Help me decide if I really owe on this invoice

Godfather you know good and well who the poster was.
Is Frank in a position to comment further? No, it wouldn’t benefit anyone. My intent is not to post cheap shots. The arrogance comment didn’t come from me, it came from Liberty owners who have told me this. 2 are on this site and the money comment is only fact.
If Marathon would of pursued the same path and it happened with us I would be at the front of the line asking the same thing and wouldn’t be afraid to talk about it here.
When I 1st posted my views I expected to be lit up within an hour, what took you so long?

I have owned 2 Marathons from 1996 to current. And I happen to believe when it comes to building a coach or supporting a coach they (Marathon) built they set the standard and everyone else follows.

I will come to Liberty’s defense here too….
We have never been to Liberty with our coach but I have had to call them 3 or 4 times and talk to Frank and he was patient and thorough.. walked me through some processes and fixed the problem.
That to me is service… I was impessed !! And being a female I always wonder what goes through a man’s mind when helping a woman… hmmmm …. probably better that I never know the answer to that question !
Anyway. on a scale from 1-10 I give Liberty a 10 for their service….
As far as Karl’s internet service goes I am surprised that he wasn’t warned and that was not right !!! Hopefully they will not hold him to paying it.
Cheers, Diane

I honestly don’t understand the ‘dig’ at Liberty. We are all driving PREVOST chassis coaches so, really, the converter is somewhat secondary and a personal choice.
Nothing wrong with having your preference as they are ALL quality converters. Many of our new friends are driving Liberty’s, Marathons (some non-slides), Vantare’s, Country Coaches and Teschner’s.
BTW, I think Liberty was making conversions before any of the other major players.
As they say in the car business, buy and drive what YOU like. We did.
Karl, I certainly enjoyed meeting you in Vonore. With you knowing your volumn of internet usuage, which is huge, and I mean really huge!, just do what you feel is right.
Safe travels to all.

Bernie,
I cannot disagree with the “arrogance” remark, just that it did not add to the discussion of the topic. The point I was trying to make is if we ever want converters or others important to us to participate we do need to dial back some of what we say while we stay focussed on a discussion which attacks the subject such that we get all the comments from both sides out on the table.
Among ourselves I am all in favor of spirited discussions especially when we are taking shots at each other’s choice of conversion. That’s what we do.

Hey all, I have been too busy to post for a few days, so I will catch up here.
First I need to make clear that I fully believe that Liberty makes the best coaches and they have certainly taken care of me to date. This problem is NOT indicative of how I have ever been treated in Stuart and I am hopeful that with some new information that Frank has relayed to me that this situation will be alleviated and that a clearer understanding of how it will work best for eveyone in the future on a going-forward basis. That said, I may have some suggestions on how these data numbers were higher than they should have been….I will elaborate if investigations prove it to be so.
My original post was primarily to ascertain if others had the same understanding of the program, which appears to be so. If it is going to change it should happen looking to the future, not based on the past. I hold Liberty in the highest regard. Please know that.

Well, everyone loves an update…..
I can now announce that because of my issue, Andrew Davidson (who does the Crestron programming for Jeff Rowe in collaboration with Liberty) has confirmed and Frank Koenigseder has verified that there is an issue with the Crestron programming. Specifically, the video feed does not just utilize the internal wifi but rather sends the signal via cellular to the web and back again. What that means for me is that while I am driving and watching the rear view camera I am actually streaming video in both directions using cellular data. This summer I drove 7500 miles streaming video both ways which, you can understand, uses a lot of data.
Now, while this does not solve the initial question of the “unlimited” data, its fix will enable an overall lower data usage that will certainly lessen the difficulties in administration of a new plan with reasonable terms and limits so that I, at least, don’t have to utilize my backup plan of switching to my AT&T account when using the bus if overall Verizon usage is high. Others who haven’t set up such a system will not have this option, so will have to be more concerned with their usage than I will, but it should in the end make everyone more comfortable if not happy.
Finally, I want to reiterate that Frank and Liberty Coach have been working hard to fix this and I think that our collaboration will end up with a better solution for all. Although the beginnings had some moments of tension over the bill, the resulting decrease in unnecessary data use and the clarification of policies will ultimately lead to a more stable, long-term, convenient solution for all.

Karl, I am not clear about this….are you saying that your rear camera is always broadcasting over wifi? Mine just goes to the Crestron hard wired display on the dash, I can not access it through the iPad or otherwise. Was this part of the “upgrade” that you had Liberty do awhile back?
-
I do not have a hardwired display any more, everything is through an iPad or iPhone. So, while the iPad is connected to the Crestron via wifi, for some reason the programmer has the video signal go out via cellular, back in via cellular, and THEN to the iPad via wifi. Is that clear?
And yes, it is all part of the upgrades we had done last year.
-
This is getting confusing.
But the sad part of this is I think Karl explained it so well I might actually understand what he is saying. Which brings me to my question. If the upgrade Karl had uses the original camera for the rear vision, isn’t that hard wired such that the monitor that is viewed from the driver’s seat gets the signal from internal devices?
My home security system is visible from anywhere I have internet access, but on my internal monitors (every TV in the house) everything is hard wired. It sounds like instead of using wires (old technology) the choice was made to go wireless but instead of that working like blue tooth where the phone is wirelessly connected to something in the car for example, the choice was made to use satellites or cell towers or some expensive internet provider.
-
Karl, I bet that they did it that way on yours because of the extra cameras that you may view remotely, and didn’t think of the backup one as being used locally while operating the bus. Are you viewing any of the other ones while operating the bus? That would also eat up lots of data if they do the same thing. I would expect them to do it while you are away from the bus and viewing them, but not while you are in the bus.
-
Exactly, Mark. Remotely it would have to use cellular but not locally. It is something that can be fixed now that it has been noticed and it holds true for all cameras. I believe that because they essentially use a template for the Crestron program in that this problem is system wide.
As to Jon’s point, there is nothing to run a wire to, so wifi is the answer. An iPad mounts to the dash where that screen used to be and has much more functionality in addition to being portable.

It seems that this issue is starting to rear it’s ugly head again. I just received an “invoice” dated 9/1/16 for my Verizon coach wifi for August. It now shows 10gb in the description. I paid for the whole year back in January and most months I get one of these “invoices”, but not always.
This is the first one that has had the 10gb listed on it, and at the end of the page, it says: Overages will be billed at cost $100 per gb over allowance.
I guess they must still be having issues with some people using too much….BUT…how am I supposed to know how much I am using? They never send out anything that tells me how much I have used, or how much I have left. Never once has Liberty ever informed me of what the usage has been.
How would I even be sure that if they did send me a bill for overage, that it was for mine, or that it was accurate? Get the picture? There is a post here from Frank from last November 13th, where he states he will be sending out this info to those on the plan. I have not yet seen one. Has anyone else received anything from him?
I suppose a call to them will have to be made to see what can be done.

The Liberty unlimited data deal is obviously not what they say it is. For the same amount of money, or close to it, anyways, you may want to consider the 22GB LTE data plan offered by Millenicom that I wrote about the other day. I have been using their services in past years and they DO KNOW how much data YOU have used.
AND they would tell you. The Liberty deal sounds great on paper but appears to be very flawed in reality.
Disclaimer: I am not a Millenicom customer at this time. I do have unlimited data with Verizon and AT&T.
As of tonight, I have used 18.9GB on AT&T with 22 days to go and 60.55GB on Verizon with 6 days to go.
