Help getting through/around Jacksonville, FL
Posted by Tom on July 24, 2012 at 9:07 amWe are heading to Disney next Tuesday with the grandkids and will be going South on I95 through Jacksonville, Fl. We will be in that area hopefully around lunch time on Tuesday and I am wondering if it will be best to stay on I95 and go straight through or take 295. If taking 295 which side is best, the West side or East side? How many miles extra is it to go 295?
Thanks for the info!!!!

Tom: I would recommend staying on I95 straight through Jacksonville. The loop takes you a good bit out of the way. Traffic should not be too bad in the middle of the day and the highway is in good shape.

If it works out …….keep in mind Sanford FL. Home of Millennium Luxary Coach. They have a huge fenced outside lot where you can park for free right off the Interstate. Sites have 50 amp, water, central sewer dump on lot.
They are super friendly and maybe you could find something you can’t live without.

Here, you can watch it in real time. I always took the I-95 straight through. One day I took the 295 to the west side. I enjoyed the ride and have done so ever since.

I think straight through is best. If you decide to take the beltway, take the west side. The east side has all the I-10 traffic and the roads aren’t as good as the west side.

BTW, if you’re not staying at Disney’s Fort Wildnerness I recoomend you reconsider. You can’t get any more convenient. Boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, bus rides to all other Disney properties.

Thanks guys for all the info.
We are staying at Fort Wilderness in one of the premium sites and looking forward to the stay. Our daughter and her family are staying in one of the cabins. -
Tom,
If you get a chance would you post a current pic of your bus. When I saw it last November in NJ it seems to me it had a very similar paint job to the one I purchased.

The vacation at Fort Wilderness was great!! It is one of the nicest campground that we have been to. The grandkids really enjoyed the parks and the campground. I used all the great advice from here and it went just as you all had said. There was a very nice newer XL pulled into the same loop that we were on Saturday, but I never had a chance to find out if it was some on this board or just needed to be!! 🙂
Thanks again!!!
