Heart Interface Inverter
Our 2005 liberty has a separate Sub Zero freezer on line 2. We found that while travelling the Freezer increased in temperature, however when plugged into shore power the freezer works fine. In order not to have food thaw we have ran the generator for a few hours daily to maintain freezing on our trip from Nashville. When I spoke with Liberty they thought it may be a weak compressor motor in the freezer, however I have spoken with Xantrax customer service and they suggest that it may be an issue with the Inverter, as the generation is Modified Sine Wave which can be an issue for some electronics. Given the refrigerator works fine on the other inverter, i was wondering if there any similar experiences out there.

I have zero clue about how Sub Zero performs on your inverter output, but the fact the refrigerator works well on inverter I would be looking at either a problem with the Sub Zero (we have really been disappointed with ours) or the output of the inverter. It could be the inverter is experiencing a problem and its output is compromised or as Liberty suggests the Sub Zero could have an issue. Our problems have related to the condenser fan which twice now has failed with intermittent operation driving us crazy.
I doubt if it is because the inverter has modified sine wave output.

After checking the output on the inverter # 2 we decided to upgrade both heart interface inverters to newer technology, after doing quite a bit of research including designing the configuration to appropriately fit into the Liberty electrical compartment in bay 2 we decided to go with Magnum MS 4024 inverter/chargers. We rotated the generator battery 90 deg to allow the two new inverters to be mounted beside each other, the installation went very well, other than installing the battery temperature sensors behind the entertainment center, the two remotes fit exactly into the power panel for a relatively painless modification. My understanding based on many discussions with people in the business is that older Inverters with a modified sine wave run motors hotter and reduce the life of some appliances, as well some newer electronics have issues with the modified sine wave, by going to Pure Sine wave we hope to extend the life of electrical equipment on board which we hope will save in the long run (remains to be scene). We also discovered that our Zero freezer condenser fan had failed, similar to your findings. Given the refrigerator had repairs required at Liberty in May, we hope this modification will help extend the life of all the equipment and appliances, I guess realistically this would depend on how much time the equipment is on inverter power.

Your installation looks great and no doubt improves the coach.
As to the Sub Zero condenser fan I am on my 3rd in a little over two years and it has nothing to do with the inverters. Sub Zero has a problem. They have something wrong with their quality control, with the motor design, or with how the motor is installed because I am now at the point where they are paying for the parts and labor.
When we talk about carrying spares that condenser motor is a good thing to have on hand. I remember when Sub Zero made a good product. Not any more.

Nice job John, If I was replacing inverters, I would do the same as you and go with Magnum.
