Heart Freedom 25 Inverter problem now fixed
Just thought I should share a problem that we recently encountered with our Inverter #1.
Suddenly we were without incoming power on Inverter #1… not having a clue what was going on I started trouble shooting everything that I could think of without luck… didn’t even know where the inverters were.. so I called Jeff… who was a Godsend … but he wasn’t sure where they put them in my coach as they had several options on my model coach.. so with Jeff’s help he had me check all the possibilities and finally found them above the tag axle so had to remove the rear wheel panel to access it… no reset and totally dead… leaving me with 2 options… replace them with new Magnums or find a working Freedom 25 inverter somewhere… Jeff checked out his place and so did Liberty with no luck. To replace them with Magnums wasn’t a really big deal but Jon mentioned there could be a problem with wire size so we didn’t go there needless to say. Then Jeff said we would have to replace the battery cables as well.
Jon told me to check Inverter Services who advertise on the Forum here … so I called them and they had 2 that they had removed from a Liberty. My electrician was not comfortable about switching them out to the magnums and it was an 800 mile trip to Jeff’s one way with out power to half the bus including the refrigerator and TVs etc.. so I called Nick back at Inverter Services and bought both the tested Freedom 25s and I had them here in 3 days… great service from Nick and Jeff… thank you both so so much…
In the meantime my Electrician disconnected & opened up the failed Inverter to find that the power source was burned up.. there was a huge wire nut if you can believe that… that had jiggled around for 15 years until it fell off and the wires burned up…pretty shitty craftsmanship there !! Anyway he replaced the wires used shrink wrap and it fired right up.
I now have 2 spare Freedom 25 Inverters… I have had good luck with them until that happened… we have never tripped a breaker inside or outside… had a few power cord issues but that wasn’t to do with the Inverters.
Anyway…I thought I should share this info in case someone else has the same problem !!
Sure was nice to see incoming power on #1.
Again… this could not have happened with out the help of Jeff Rowe of ETLC … Nick of Inverter Services.. and of course Jon… Thanks so much guys you’re worth the dues for sure.
Cheers, Diane
