headlight rebuild on 98 XLE
Well on it’s way! Just need tidying up– For those considering change. The actual lens are smaller that the original but easy to make black filler strip to make finished look or maybe led amber or white= like new cars around newly created space. Buchets are Narva # 72198 200x 142MM open back headlamp housing. Take a little enginuity but does fasten to existing coach backing==need to drill new holes or use self taping screws. Use the cibie headlight lens from Valeo # 082462 referance toyota HI-Ace. The actual bulb is # 48911 from narva 100watt high and 55 watt driving/low beam. Flosser relay 12v-30 amp(one for high and one for low) # 2252. 30 amp inline fuses one for low and one for high. plus light sockett that is very heavy duty for each light. The ones I got have screw tightner for each wire and push on end of bulb. I used 10ga stranded wire. through out! I know some have contacted danielsternlighting.com and haven’t recieved any help. That is why I posted ##’s off the boxes I have.. I had good service. If you can connect with him I hope you will be satisified. You use one of your stock headlight socketts to trigger high and low beam relays. The original Prevost wiring was 18ga on my coach. Remember I think outside box!! Bob

The pictures make the housings look smaller than they are; with that said they are smaller but no comparison to stock brightness. Putting led’s around open extra space. Hope this helps someone make a informed decision. Bob

Ken: mine are smaller than the ford original equip. I wanted a glass lens so that was my decision. When the led’s arrive I plan on filling space like new cars are doing. Since M is doing the original lens I am curious what he will end up with. I think both have their advantages. Will be intresting to compare results. Bob

We have had the old XL quad sealed beam rectangular headlights, the Ford later style and now the current smaller high intensity style.
By far the best lighting was the quad sealed beams. They don’t look modern, but they did an outstanding job.

I junkyard searched for a replacement for stock. Tried bronco and f-350 no joy was able to find new main headlamp lense = no real improvment that is why went differant route. The optics are screwed up on the stock prevost/ford system on single xl headlights.
