    Mark,

    On our Liberty, the valve was directly behind the toilet, which for me meant that it was also behind the refrigerator. On our XL, I opted to remove the refrigerator, rather than the toilet, to access the valve.

    Mark,

    The flush valve could be located anywhere. On a previous coach it was beneath a kitchen cabinet accessed via a panel in the floor of the cabinet. On the current coach it is mounted to the ceiling of the water bay.

    What is common to all locations is it is somewhere along the clear braided hose that originates just above the water pump. You can start at the toilet and work backwards, or start at the pump and work towards the toilet. Your specific floor plan will determine where it is.

    Diane,

    I replaced the solenoid
    per Headhunters instruction which did improve but not cure the problem.

    After much trouble shooting I determined that I can have 100%
    reliable flushes only when the Mach 5 pump is running. The Headhunter response
    is that an accumulator tank should be installed and would cure the problem.

    On a related note I did find that the screen located just below
    the solenoid/diaphragm was clogged with very small pieces of what appeared to
    be hard plastic. After looking at the situation and considering that the screen
    on the inlet side of the pump was clear it became obvious that the little
    plastic pieces are coming from the pump itself. Impeller pieces? Not certain, but pump is still meeting Headhunt specs on pressure cut in/out and according to
    them should still be fine.

    Oh well, I’ll try adding the accumulator tank when I
    have time and see if that is the solution. Thanks to all for the valuable
    input.

    Alvie,

    Bottom line with any Headhunter toilet is you need to deliver a lost of water quickly and at a good pressure, such as never letting the system pressure drop below 40 PSI.

    I have had two coaches with the Headhunter toilet and the secret in both cases was a sufficiently large accumulator with the discharge aimed directly at the flush valve. With no impediments to the flow I can get an excellent flush even with my 1.25 GPM back up pump. With the Headhunter Mach 5 pump performance of the toilet is beyond excellent when combined with the accumulator tank

    Alvie,

    Mine was the same as yours, you have to have the Mach 5 running to get the correct volume of water. I installed an accumulator tank and it helps a lot. Mine is just installed in a cold line and helps to keep the pump from running at the slightest crack of a faucet.

    Right above the solenoid valve in Tom’s picture underneath the 6 screws is where the rubber diaphragm is located. If that cover has a sticker with a large S on it then you have an inline screen that should be checked if you are having a flushing issue that you think may be related to inadequate water flow. Just unscrew the diaphragm contraption and the screen is right below that.

    The Headhunter Puffer PT-102 accumulator tank had lost it’s 18 psi precharge. Recharged it and now life is good. Perfect flush every time. Thanks to everyone for suggestions/comments. What a great resource we have in P.C.!

    I replace both the timer and solenoid and everything works great. Timer was $2190 and solenoid was $880. Thanks again for the help!!
