Head Hunter Toilet push switch problem
I too love my Head Hunter toilet but a problem with the flush switch has developed. The toilet will not stop running after the switch is depressed. The breaker has to be shut off to stop it and after time the breaker can be turned back on ready for the next flush. I can sometimes press on the side of the switch and get a normal flush and stop.
Has anyone replaced this switch?

I have Harry and the new switchs work much better than the old. I would talk to Headhunter and make sure the switch is the problem and not the timer. I replaced both, any easy job.

I actually replaced the switch AND TIMER with an automotive push botton starter switch, like from the 40’s. The toilet now flushes for as long or short the period of time that you hold the switch. I’ve found it very satisfactory.

Excellent idea. That is a piece of advice to store away for future use. I suspect the cost was very inexpensive as well.

Depending on your floor plan you may be able to access the rear of the switch by removing the filler strips that are likely in place between the toilet and the rear wall.
If you (or maybe Shirley with smaller hands) can get at it and get a tool in there it can be removed. On mine the second part of the switch (timer) was attached to the opposite side with velcro, also accessible if you have a removable filler strip on the other side of the toilet. You will definitely need a mirror for better visibility.
But if you do not have the room to get your hand and and a tool in there the only choice you have is to pull the toilet. I just had to do that on mine and it only involves loosening the band clamp on the discharge and then separating the braided plastic supply hose from the barbed fitting. I could not do that because it was too rigid so I cut it in the middle and rejoined it with a connector. If you take the toilet out tighten all the band clamps around the fittings. Mine had started to leak and I think that might be something that happens to all Headhunter toilets.
I drained the toilet using one of those small siphon pump devices so I had minimal water on the floor.

I got on the headhunter website and wasn’t able to locate parts department.
Do you just call the company direct and ask for parts department?

replaced the flush button with a push button switch. Cost me $6 from Amazon. We like the fact we can control the flush time by how long we hold the switch

I think the people on the S&S forums need to read this thread, they are always complaining about how much water is used on overlong flushes.
Its a mod I’m going to add to my ‘must do when I get a bus’ list.

I talked to Wilson at Headhunter. He was a great help, we have parts coming .
Ordered switch, timer and diaphragm & screen.
Should be here tomorrow.
Hopefully it does the trick.
