Even with all the maintenance, we love our turtle house. People look at me funny when they ask me where I live and my response is “i live in a van down by the river”… that van being a 45′ coach and the river being the ocklawaha river where I look out at the ocala national forest from my front window 🙂
It’s funny that about 90% of the time we stop somewhere, we are close to a river. Guess my 16 years of living on the Monterey Bay ingrained the need to be close to water.
Even with all the “issues” that come we with a Prevost, still don’t think another coach would have been a better choice.

I think anyone that wants a Class A instead of a Prevost conversion is missing the boat.
Theoretically a conventional RV should be no more or less trouble free than our coaches because for the chassis they share almost all the same features such as air brakes, diesel engines and similar if not identical air bag suspensions.
Their “house” should actually be more capable and reliable because they have a substantial amount of experience because converters may only build very small quantities of house interiors the large RV manufacturers are building quantities in the thousands and thus would have substantial feedback to apply to production methods and product designs.
But the reality appears to be completely different. The Prevost chassis has a commercial market that requires both durability and quality production and we benefit highly from that expertise. Our Prevost shells are the result of millions and millions of miles of hard commercial service and if there are flaws in the design they show up and are addressed long before we would ever see them.
Our converters make up for the lack of volume by designing interiors that are not only robust with systems that are “overbuilt”, but that are constantly evolving based on feedback.
I know several conventional RV owners and I am very surprised at both the amount of issues, but also at the difficulty in getting quality service. We who own Prevost conversions get early dates for service, but when we bring the coach in for service it is done quickly and to a high degree of quality.
A 20 year old Prevost conversion is still going to be around longer than the typical new Class A and it will be more reliable and safer. It will handle and drive better, but it also is likely to be far less expensive than a new RV that emphasizes colors, decor and bling.

Hey Charles, do I get an atta boy for pointing you in the right direction years ago in my garage in GA. Remember, cold cloudy day outside, but a few beers in the bus made it better and I knew you and Tam where hooked.

Jon has almost perfectly summed up why I put a substantial amount of money down on the “Prevost” square and feel very strongly we’ve made a good long-term bet. In additional to Class A’s I think we have a better long term bet than those RVers with a really long three axle fifth wheel trailer pulled by a Schwalbe crew cab conversion on a Freightliner chassis.

Dick, I think where you will be is about 90 miles from Silver Springs area.
Tim, We own a lot in an RV resort that sits along the river/forest. Very peaceful.

We went through the Silver Springs area Sunday on I think Hwy 40. Leaving Steinhatchee Tuesday for Panama City. We visited Silver Springs when we’d stay in The Villages before the Prevost. Have relatives in Keystone Heights.
