Harvey And Diesel Availability And Prices
While my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Houston and surrounding areas who have had their lives turned upside down by this historic flood, I’ll ask those who know more about diesel than I do, what happens to prices and availability?
I’m already reading that gasoline futures have risen 7% on the Asian markets and while I’m expecting diesel prices to rise overnight, I’m wondering if there will be any shortages?

I am sure there will be a huge increase in prices. 25% of all gasoline is refined in Pasadena Texas. So much of all of our petro chemicals are made in Pasadena. All along 225 in Pasadena, on both sides of the 6 lanes are petro chemical plants. This is going to have a huge inflationary impact on our economy. Oh, by the way I found this article about turning old tires into fuel for diesel engines. Thought it was interesting. Cheers Michael

Loves in Mt. Vernon Texas ran out of Fuel Wednesday as we were in line to fuel up. Ended up getting fuel in Rockwall but they were getting low on diesel as well. Fill up when you can folks!

The Pt Arthur Enterprise Refinery is the largest producer of gasoline in the USA … it went off line about 36 to 48 hrs ago but I imagine will be back on line quickly… they had 50 inches…

We have been VERY lucky… lots and lots of rain.. pool overflowed twice which is a lot of water… a couple of low lying roads were closed but nothing to be afraid of… just 40 miles from here is lots of flooding… major highways closed etc. Airports closed etc.
Ours hearts are with the suffering… such a mess with months and months just to clean up let alone rebuild… even our boats in Galveston are fine… the water never went over the finger piers so we consider ourselves very very blessed…. and we are praying for all of Houston and surrounding areas.

I wonder if the tanks at lots of stations will be pumped “dry”. Is there a danger in getting bad stuff off the bottom? Or when the tanks are replenished and all the “stuff” on the bottom gets stirred up?
