    Looking at our forecast(N. San Antonio, TX), below freezing temps for days on end, decided to up the ante a bit. Added a second 800w radiant heater in the interior. Besides the water heater, also turned on the thermostatically controlled heater that’s built into the ceiling of the plumbing bay.

    I had Rudy service the Webasto this morning – it fired up afterwards but would not circulate coolant. Does anyone have a 1994 Liberty XL – 40′? My OTR heat only blows cool air so I’m thinking that there is a valve somewhere that I’m not turning on. I found one spigot valve between the radiator and engine block and numerous lever style valves – I opened all of them – still no warm air. The thermostats are turned on and set to 75 – Is there more than one spigot valve in the coolant system somewhere?

    It has been 15 years since I had a 40 foot coach, and that did not have Webasto.

    But there was a valve behind the radiator door, hinge side (toward the coach front) behind a rubber flap. That controlled coolant flow to the OTR system

    On Webasto coaches by Liberty the switch on the bottom of the thermostats in the house need to be switched on (pushed to the right). All valves in multiple places need to be on. As soon as the Webasto is turned on you should hear it begin the start cycle, but also at the same time hear the circulating pump running. If the pump is not running the Webasto will not be able to heat the coach or engine.

    My concern, given the age of the coach is if previous owners chose to shut off coolant flow to deal with service issues like leaks or system valves not functioning as intended.

    I believe you are on to something – Prevost Houston told me they turned the valves off when they worked on the OTR a/c and in order for it to blow cold air, they had to turn one or two off. I could possible have a faulty valve – but at least, I got a new nozzle on my Webasto and got to meet Rudy! It’s hard not to get aggravated at myself for not knowing more than I do about this bus…….

    Sometimes it makes me wonder what was I thinking……

    I had three Country Coaches and understood them very well…. but they certainly don’t compare with the ride of the Prevost!

    If your coach is like mine, if you have the 2 valves turned of behind the flap in the radiator compartment, the Webasto will over heat and blow the special fuse on top of the unit inside the small 2″ X 2″ box. It will only work again if you buy a new fuse. Rudy should have been able to check that so I doubt that is your current issue.

    The best of plans go to Hell when the 110v power fails either due to overuse in the facility or general power failure due to ice and wind in areas not accustomed to freezing weather. “Learning” to winterize in the middle of the crisis invites problems as well. I think taking the coach to a 50 amp RV park would be smart if the power does not fail. If it does fail go right to the gen set and Wabasto. Be glad you are not in Oklahoma!

    Well – guess what… the 110V power failed last night but the Webasto was working this morning. I’m turning on the genset – charging batteries and insulating water pipes at home. How much fuel does the Webasto burn? I think I can run my generator for a few days until this global warming passes!

    Calvin, The Webasto burner burns one half gallon per hour of run time. The heating capacity of the burner normally, at least for Aqua Hot units, means it out runs the heating demand and cycles off for a period of time during really cold heating periods.

    In the Aqua Hot, the burner uses 2 to 3 gallons per 24 hour day in freezing conditions and 3 to 4 gallons in frigid conditions. I do not know fuel consumption for the heat exchanger you have like I do Aqua Hot.

    I think the fuel burn for the Webasto and genset are overstated which is a good thing. Running my 20KW generator for 170 hours burned 71 gallons of fuel,

    The Webasto uses less unless it is bitterly cold because it only fires when heat is called for.

    Everything seems to be working properly – however; when I returned from fueling up, I noticed a white light – DECEL that was burning steady just above my low level switch – what the heck is that telling me? It wasn’t on when I cranked it up earlier this morning.

    Eugene FWIW been in teens and single digits here for over a week… went up to coach about 1hr ago. Have a case of water just inside door.. no bottles with ice in them. Hate your having historic cold weather. Bob

    We lost power at home and after 2 nights with only a quasi gas fireplace for heat we decided to move to the coach. Webasto worked fine and I ran the cruise air heaters when it got real cold. Thanks again to everyone for the help and support.

    I still don’t know what the white light (DECEL) ON THE CRUISE CONTROL PANEL, IS FOR???
