Hand ache while driving
Posted by Joe on February 18, 2015 at 10:11 amMy hands ache while driving the coach. Probably from holding the wheel too tight or in a particular position. I tried changing positions, but the one that is most comfortable to me is the position that causes discomfort in my hands and an occasional piercing pain up my wrist and arm. My doctor suggested that truckers probably have the same problem. So, I went online and found that it’s quite common for truckers. There is a glove especially designed to resolve the problem and it seems to work (so far), but I haven’t driven a long haul with them yet.
They are Qwi gloves available here: http://www.qwinerveprotector.com/ProfDrivingGlove.html
FYI: I ordered a Large and an Extra Large, but didn’t see much difference between the two. I’m 5’9″ and 180 pounds and the large are perfect. ($20 a pair plus $5 shipping by mail) They seem to be of pretty good quality.

Dontknow if this will help but it seems to work for me. I installed a suicide knob on my wheel some years ago and I found that it reduces strain considerably. Old rumors abound since I was a kid that they are illegal but I have never seen any proof. I even have one on my golf cart. Wife likes it too

Don’t have one on the coach Red, but everything else out here with a steering wheel has one. They help, no doubt. Heard the same thing about the road “being illegal..” Got a an extra one, think I’ll put it on the bus.

My hands don’t ache, but I cannot drive for long distances without moving my hands to many positions during the day. Maybe the fact I change seating positions as well as where and how I hold the wheel helps.
A 700 mile day is not unusual for me so I am spending a lot of seat time.

I fixed his double, he’s all in a tither with power outages, no internet and no phone service thanks to mother nature putting the freeze on Knoxville.
You’ll love this… I called his cell phone and he answered!

And since the land line phones and internet services are out over a widespread area my Verizon MiFi which is ordinarily pretty fast has slowed down so bad It has finally reached the record speed I seem to enjoy. 33 RPM.

Listening to his 33’s, I’m surprised he was awake to answer the cell phone.
