  • Haldex Height Control Valve

Posted by Art on November 19, 2017 at 9:40 am

I’ve looked on forum and don’t see any info on the Haldex height control valves 90554111 I’ve replaced all air bags front Noregen valves and front still slowly sinks down over a couple of days. I think it’s the level valve, I replaced the 1 way check valve in all 3 level valves and replaced left rear level valve and right rear and front still sink the only one that is great is left rear. Looking at schematics height valve has pressure against it on the side of the valve that goes to bag no check valve on that side?

Beware of the inferior quality counterfeit Haldex height control valves. They are cheaper but don’t last as long.

    Look Here.

Once the key is off air should be locked in the air bags via the 5 port Norgrens in the case of your 97 coach. I am not saying your ride height valves will not leak, but if you air up the coach, then turn off the key, you can move the arm on your ride height valves up and down to your heart’s content and no air is going to escape from your air bags unless you have an issue with the 5 port valve.

If your 97 has IFS you have the potential for greater leaks because of the ping tanks, their added fittings and petcocks. But even if you have the solid axle you still have potential leaks at air bags, their fittings, the 5 port Norgren, the 3 port Norgren between the drive and tag, and to isolate the problem when soapy water or an ultrasonic leak detector will not find the leak you have to start pressurizing everything, one device at a time to see which is leaking.

If yours is like mine, there is a r12 or r14 valve mounted on the frame above the front axle about in the center left to right that will allow the symptom you are having. It is a cheap piece to replace.

Kinda hard to see but if you follow path from delivery side of level valve to air bag it goes dirrectly to air bag? there are some blocks goes through Standard 57 to bag?

Art, I DON’T think your bus has STD 57, it has OPT 42(K910026 = K41EA00KS1KA2) like mine and most straight axle MH conversions.

Dan, the R12 & R14 relay valves are over the drive axle and are for the drive axle spring and service brakes, not the suspension.

Ahh, just looked at my schematic. It shows a device labeled “air manifold (w. restriction)”. It is supplied air from a 3 way Norgren, and is the last device air goes through before it reaches the air springs/bags at front. That is the part I was referring to that might be letting the front down slowly but don’t know what it should be called. It is shown on the schematic in the same place I previously described above.

Replaced both height control valves over last 8 months and rear comes up fast and front very slow, I noticed front height control valve has been replaced on rear on the supply side there is a 1/3 lb check valve #530175 that I replaced on rear and in Haldex kit #90554111 there is a couple different air fittings and one of them is a brass barrel with a schrader valve in it a used as a one way check valve, But I thank it takes more psi the open valve, In the air schematics it shows all 3 are the same the check valve. Should I change front to chack # 530175
