H3-45 lower body panels
Posted by Jim on February 24, 2021 at 9:55 pmHas anyone replaced the lower body panel on an H3-45 ? If so,
how are they put on and how do they come off. Talking about lower cargo door panels that the rub rail is on. I have a couple with cracks in them. Thanks JimEd replied 5 years, 6 months ago 7 Members · 12 Replies -

easy stuff just buy your replacements get them painted and the go on with a 3m adhesive I forget the part number right now but I can get it for you. You can pull your factory ones right off with a little force. I have replace 3 on my bus.

Thank you that is great news. I will call Prevost get them on order.

I do not own an H3, but have seen the cracks mentioned. My question is do later model H3 coaches still get cracks or has the cause been identified and resolved.
Without that assurance I would be reluctant to replace panels.

??? are they fiberglass or some type of composite(sp)?
There is a section in prevo manual on fiberglass repair.

I was warned by other H3 owners to close my bay doors with the lower pull handle and not by grabbing the lower panel. Also said not to to slam or aggressively drop the cargo door.

The factory ones are fiberglass but the ones I purchased are composite and they work great and so far very durable

Ralf did you get the composite panels from Prevost thanks Jim

The panels are from factory glued to the door with Sikaflex. The old ones have to be cut off with a long knife and the door cleaned before putting them back on. Sikaflex can be ordered through Prevost for a reasonable price.
I replaced all my panels last year.

Hello Chuck – believe you are spot-on. Have also been told simply dropping the door is what causes them to break.
Was told to prevent cracking, to gently lower each door without grasping the bottom panel, then push it at the top with your palm to “click” it fully closed.

Jim I have purchased panels from both ibp and power manufacturer and the build quality is better from ibp but the fit meant is better on the power manufacture panels.

The one with the handle is from ibp one without is power manufacturer
when painted you can’t tell the difference but once you put your hands on them you can tell. The ibp panels are a bit more sturdy.
