H3 45 2002 bay door lift springs
Does anyone have the part number for these springs? Best place to buy. I need 10. thanks

I doubt anyone will have them any cheaper than Prevost. Call them with your vin. 980024 is the shock for an H I believe. Prevost will match it up to your vin.

Got the springs. Any trick to compressing them for install?

You don’t compress them for installation.
You install one end on the inside of the bay and the door will lift up just pass the fully extended strut and you can put the other end over the ball.
Probably want to get some help with this because the doors will be heavy with no shock on them.

Follow Buddy’s instructions.
on our XLV I blocked the door UP as high as I could. There is a significant amount of stored kinetic energy in even a slightly compressed spring. If that is accidentally released, it could cause very serious injuries.

That exactly what I did on my old XLV but on my H3 they won’t go high enough. I am perplexed.

I use a ratchet strap to compress them slightly

Or use vice grips. This is much easier as long as you do the hard connection first. Generally, one or the other end is sometimes less reachable. Once you do one, it will take less than 5 minutes per support. Just be careful.

Well the strap idea did not work for me. I bought the widess and heaviest one and the end just went thur the webbing. will try the vice grip idea next. There has to be an easy way to do this 🙂

I have had to loosen up the “Ball Studs” that they mount on before, just to get them to go on, and then re tighten them once on. Some can really be a pain, but on an H, they will not over extend far enough on some.

My suggestion of vice grips is apparently way off as a solution to compressing these things. I was under the impression you were trying to hold up the door while changing them. I use a vice grip on the shaft of the one not being removed and after I replace the other, it holds the door up while I change the second.
Sorry if I misled you… I find it hard to believe but it is obviously true, that the new ones are minutely longer than the current ones.
I thought that if you got it close that with one appropriate shove, the door would open wide enough to get the end over the ball nuts.

I did not consider the ball studs. Bet it I loosen or remove, the door will go high enough to get the shock on. I will give that a try. Thanks
