H Bay Door Cracks
Just wondering if anyone has some insight as to why the H bay doors develop small cracks. I consider myself lucky to just have two, they all appear to have them. Would like to know what causes the cracks.

they all do it and I have not ever seen a good reason why as they crack in different places I know of no repair other than replacing them…

I’ve always assumed it was grabbing that rail to close the bay door.

Ours have cracks too… need to get them fixed asap !!

Once that fiberglass starts it won’t stop a running. Does prevost have any info on it?

Just about all mine have it as well. I figured that was a converter added part but I guess not….

The Prevost emblem on the front cap has cracks at all corners on my H as well as the bay doors. I guess that might be unrelated to the bay door issue, but it is going to have to be addressed. The cracks are wide enough to allow moisture to enter. Not sure how to access the back side of the emblem but will figure it out., it will need to be removed to repair the glass and repainted.

Since all H’s seem to have this issue there is a good chance it relates to the manufacturing process and that as the parts age they develop cracks. My guess is unless and until the process is changed to eliminate the cause even new parts are going to eventually end up cracking in a similar manner.
I have not ever seen an H with some age on it that did not have the cracks and they are all located in similar places relative to the trim.
The problem we all have is if our coach has a flaw such as a small crack, or a dent or a paint chip our eyes seem drawn to the defect. That makes the problem to us to seem worse. I don’t know the answer and I would guess Prevost does not know the answer either although it might be worth someone having a discussion with Prevost. It will not be an inexpensive fix if the solution is to replace bay door panels or front caps. The cost of repainting alone could be very expensive.

You are right…Tom will be getting a 4 slide one, and they are not old enough to have cracks…yet.

I replaced 3 panels last year, panels at prevost 2200 each, had them painted at Millenium, 22000 so for 3 panels about 3,000 dollars not cheap! I walked thru the facility when the painting was getting done did not see one H that did not have a least 2 cracked panels, theu usually start at the corner where the chrome trim is. This is a problem with all H,s they will crack sooner or later, Gary

Well, my face is Red! The cracks I thought were at the corners of the Prevost emblem on the front cap ARE NOT CRACKS. Whew!!!
What I was seeing is where the 3M film was trimmed around the logo emblem. I will blame this on the poor lighting in my storage unit, has nothing to do with my Mature Vision. The installers of the 3M film did a good job cutting in around the emblem, wipers and washer nozzle and the film looks continuous.

Larry,
Flashlights and magnifying glass will help differentiate between cracks and 3M film. I’m ducking now in anticipation of lots of “cracks” incoming!

Will, I can deal with the “Incoming” much better than I could the Cracks had they been for real.
