I’ll add to Gil’s correct comment. You can ruin batteries easily by not charging them to the specified voltages so whatever ruined them could have been either scenario.

My guess is Gil nailed it.

    Karl,

Use your PC Napa card and go for the group 31’s as we discussed by phone. They will easily go 3 years with no problems.

I just installed one of these last February. Exact same unit. Very happy with it.

I have a new charger just like yours, I wonder how did you wire yours. I have the manual for it and it shows two battery banks,

one series and one parallel, My bus has a 4 battery bank.

Ive seen the schematic in other posts, but they dont fit with the way Prevost wired my batteries, Im just curious where you put the two pairs of wires coming off the charger.

Any info would be great and a pic would be outstanding,(but I know its a pain to take the time and cover off the bank for that.

    Thanks Steve

    Creed,

Mine was easy. Wired in series so the 24+ volt output of the charger matched the 24+ volt battery bank. Put a volt meter across the +/- of your battery bank and check the voltage. Should be 24 volts.

The ground (minus) is easy as anything on the chassis should be ground. There is a grounding lug on the frame back by the original charger location. My old charger (minus) was lugged to that terminal.

The positive can either be picked-up on the lug of the “last battery in the series”, or you can follow the positive lead that goes to the power distribution on the vertical firewall, just to the front of the batteries. I’ll try to swing by and take a few picks of my installation and post.

Just came to me. The leads should connect exactly as the original charger did.
