Grey and Black Holding tanks

That white dried soap you saw in your gray tank was not dried soap but fat or grease be carful how much you put down there from the sink washing dishes or dish washer .Is the kitchen sink and dishwasher all that hits gray tank, I aways thought all body fluid water, shower, lavatory and comode went to black. And non body contamited went to gray if im not correct please correct me. Gray water may be dumped in a storm drain if needed because it dose not have any infectious fluids that the body could emit. CRAP I HOPE IM RIGHT i have dumped gray water in a storm drain at wallmart.

In my boating days things were pretty simple. Black from the toilet or marine talk “the head” went into a single holding tank. All other went into the body of water the boat was currently sitting on top of. All works well in the USA but going to Canada nothing goes into the water, everything in tanks.
I believe Liberty coach has eliminated the two tank system and installed a single tank for any and all. It does make sense at least to me of having one tank which ends up in one drain pipe anyway. So why separate in the first place ?
Maybe some government agency has dual holding tank authority ? ……Just thinking

Ok I think the Macerator is great while traveling I installed it,
Its A real Iowa corn Chopper !!! works great, But I think I will go to the large pipe and get a better flush going on, I wonder what would happen if I flushed a couple bags of Ice down the toilite and drove around to agaitate it?

Having made more grease traps than almost anyone on the planet I can address David’s remarks easily. If you dump greasy waste in your drain system you are going to have problems. The grease, fats and oils seem like a viscous material, but over time they coat the walls of pipes and form an adobe like material. I wouldn’t worry a whole lot about the holding tank because before the tank gets plugged you will not get any flow down the drain.
Cities across the country spend billions keeping municipal sewer systems flowing and fighting blockages from fats, oil and greases. If you do a lot of cooking and dishwashing in the coach just use paper towels to wipe pots or dishes to minimize anything containing grease from carrying that down the drain.
If you do have concerns about grease in your drain system you can deliver your problem downstream. It is not legal or very moral but if your grease has not converted itself into the solid adobe like material Dawn or something similar will emulsify it and cleanse pipes and holding tank walls, allowing it to flow into the municipal sewer system where your problem now becomes the sewer authority’s problem.

Just on quick thing I have not seen in this thread is if you have a dump on both sides, be sure to use both of them often enough to keep a clog from happening.

This thread is very interesting, since I was in the water and sewer business for forty years before selling it, I can tell you that grease is the worst thing for drains, and pump stations, and any type holding tanks, grey water included! You would be surprised at the grease and build up of solids in grey water from soaps ,detergants, and oils from our bodies. We used pressure washers with a grease cutting additive to clean pump stations, some had to be pumped out because the grinder pumps would not take them. Most of the force main pipes were clean as a pin because of the scouring action of the pumped water, in gravity lines ones with sufficient grades would be clean, but lines with little grade would have accumaltion in th invert. Dawn is the best over the counter grease cutter you can buy! Makes you wonder looking at the waste we flush or drain away, what the old blood vessels look like and how much plaque build up we have in them. Gary

Wonder if we can solve that plaque thing with an evening Dawn and Water instead of the usual Bourbon and Water? I suspect that would expand on this thread too much because that would make your toilet the only thing ever used in the bus again!
