Greetings
Greetings PC! I am another newbie who has been lurking for a
few months. After spending lots of time in lots of forums on a broad range of
topics, I have to say that PC is among the best I have seen in terms of
civility and willingness to educate. I hope I don’t test you in either
category.I am solo, nearing retirement, and planning to full-time in
an RV for a while. After lots of research, I was leaning toward a truck/trailer
option of some sort. A few months ago a friend insisted that a Prevost was the
best way for me to go. Since then, he checks in with me about once a month to
see how my research is coming, and to offer additional guidance. I am now
convinced that my friend has saved me from an expensive and frustrating
mistake. At this point I am not sure if I will be looking to buy in
2016 or 17. The problem is that freeing up the money I plan to spend could end
up costing me as much as a second Prevost. What I really need now more than
anything is a good tax advisor, but that is a question for a different forum.I have been reading everything I can find on Prevosts and
the converters, and I spent a Saturday afternoon with a great guy who patiently
walked me through every inch of his coach – telling stories of life with a
Prevost and encounters with many of the personalities involved in conversion
over the past two decades. At this point, I think the best fit for me would be
a 1997-2001 XL series with no slides. Nothing earlier, because I want IFS, and
nothing later because I want enough cash left over to buy food. I guess that
one thing that I think I want is likely to generate some responses. I think I
want a 40-footer. Main reasons are because I am solo and even 40 feet looks
like a lot to me, and because I keep seeing parks in places I want to stay that
have a 40-foot limit.I plan to go to the Tampa RV show in January, the Prevost
show in March, and, most likely my best education opportunity, the Know Your
Prevost Seminar in March.Looking forward to meeting and getting to know some of you
in the near future. I would be happy to hear your thoughts any time.
