I’m inclined to believe the wizards that order things like those cars, or city buses, or whatever to protect us are also poor hunters.

It is always a good idea to check out stories like this one. The following is from Snoops and tells a different story for what these cars are, why they were scrapped and, no, the batteries are not leaking, in fact the batteries have all been removed:

“In 2021, social media users began circulating photographs purporting to show a “boneyard” near Paris, France, that supposedly housed hundreds of derelict electric vehicles, the automobiles supposedly having been abandoned and left to decay because their battery storage cells had “given out” and were too expensive to replace:

Although the photographs are real; the accompanying description is misleading in multiple ways. This item is, in effect, an example of a failed business model rather than a failed technology.

Back in 2011, the Autolib program offered the service of providing thousands of electric vehicles in the Paris area under a car-sharing program. Subscribes to the service were able to use the any of the fleet of 4,000 BlueCar cars as they wished, paying a fee each time depending upon how long they used the vehicle. At its peak in 2016, the program boasted 110,000 subscribers.

However, Autolib slid from that peak into decline, due to a number of factors: Four thousand cars for over 100,000 subscribers meant many users were unable to find vehicles when they wanted them; users frequently left the cars dirty inside and damaged; and competition from ride-hailing apps such Uber eroded the customer base. By 2018, Autolib was running debts of tens of millions of euros and the program was discontinued in June of that year.

In the end, most of the BlueCars in better condition were purchased and re-sold to new users or scrapped for parts. But a private company eventually stored some of the cars in not-so-good condition in a lot in an industrial area near Romorantin in Loir-et-Cher, as seen above — not because the vehicles’ storage cells had failed, but because the Autolib car-sharing program not to be a viable long-term business model.

It is also not the case that the abandoned Autolib BlueCars’ batteries are “draining toxins into the ground.” As noted in reports on the subject, the batteries have been removed from the pictured vehicles”

I canceled my $61,000.00 480HP Electric Mustang GT order…why buy technology that is Ford is already getting ready to abandon in 5 years or less. I’ll keep driving my 480HP Bullit Mustang gas sipping car until then.

Until they can get me a large SUV that I can drive 700-800 miles without a long duration charging stop or stops, and it costs no more than a gas version, they can stick them where the sun don’t shine. I don’t need green, I need range and hauling capacity. I can go about 500 miles now with my Lincoln Navigator L between fill ups. It has tons of room and lots of power too.

Give me fossil fuel any day!!

To add to what Mark says, show me the infrastructure that will be reliable. As the greenies get their electric cars will the country’s electric grid be capable of carrying the extra load of replacing the power generated by millions of gallons of petroleum based fuel?

Who will be policing the charging stations to prevent people from blocking others from using them because they were off somewhere shopping or having a long lunch? We already see this kind of idiocy at truck stops where a driver sticks the nozzle in his fuel tank and then goes inside to shower, buy his week’s groceries and get a custom made sandwich while drivers are backed up wanting to get at the pumps.

California cannot supply the electric power to run A/Cs in the summer. That kind of infrastructure failure will be commonplace across the country.

And not a single soul is willing to compare emissions from our coal fired generating plants or offer safe spaces for spent nuclear fuel or talk about how the greenies will pay their fare share of the highway taxes when they secretly charge their Tesla in their garage.

I saw a documentary that said the carbon footprint to obtain the minerals to build electric cars was actually 9% greater due to the mining of rare earth minerals and transporting, and manufacturing the batteries.

Another documentary said that the residential power grid would not support the recharge of electric cars if every one had an electric car requiring recharge.

Still trying to understand how we are going to provide the electricty without fossil fuel?

Just my 2 cents ,we all have seen or lived in an apartment complex with hundreds of units how are they going to charge all the vehicles at basically same time. Technology is not available at this time might be in future, how about fuel cells, stations you can put carbon in and water vapor out tail pipe.

Electric cars will not get rid of the dip sticks. They will still be in office.
