The driver of one of the Dave Matthews buses apparently came down with a major case of stupid. Entertainer drivers are not the most thoughtful when it comes to dumping holding tanks. Some think nothing of dumping their tanks wherever it is convenient for them. They do not worry about going somewhere to hook up to a sewer. I won’t say they all are guilty of dumping their tanks on the ground, over a storm sewer or while they are running down a highway.

The Dave Matthews driver while leaving Chicago thought it would be a good idea to dump while on a bridge with a grated deck. Apparently in his mind it would be harmless because it would go into the river below. Unfortunately there was a tour boat on the river and the folks on the boat ended up getting covered with the contents of the holding tank.

There were some criminal penalties related to the environmental laws that were violated, but I think the biggest impact was the financial impact of the lawsuits from the people on the boat. I don’t know the outcome or if this is working its way through the courts but the numbers were in the millions.

To polish copper the first thing is to make sure if it had a protective lacquer coating or some clear coat that is removed. Generally over time the surface of the protective coating gets holes in it and the copper starts to get dark spots that spread beneath the coating. The coating needs to be removed to get access to the copper itself.

Almost any copper or metal polish works and it seems I have tried them all in an attempt to find the one that is effortless. All I know is no matter what you use there is going to be some elbow grease associated with polishing. Once you have the polish back a regular cleaning with polish will be quick and easy. In a campground I never confess to working on my coach. When others inquire about my polished copper pipes I just explain my “people” take care of stuff like that. They all believe me.
