The exception to that is the Microphor 210 that has a flapper, but the contents don’t get dumped until after the flapper closes and then is discharged to the holding tank with air. The 220 as well has a flapper, but again the contents don’t all get dumped until the flapper is closed because it drops into a hopper before being discharged. So with the 220 electric, at lease you get a little barrier to the stink tank when flusing as the contents are dropped through the hooper. Many of the plastic coach toilets are direct drop, open the flapper and you can see directly down into the holdinig tank.

I have a direct drop Sealand and the little hole to prevent possilble over flow can emit a smell. I think they are like a p-trap and a little water in them will eliminate smell coming from the toilet. I use the toilet flush hose attach to squirt into the holes to fill them.

I don’t know about your brand of toilet but my Microphor has the over flow tube you are talking about and has to have a loop in it so it will hold water and act as a pee trap. I think over a period of time they can get dry so get a container full of water and fill your toilet that way until the water goes through the over flow. That ma stop the smell. I use the tank chemicals because they help controll the odor. With the Microphor it is a straight drop to the holding tank like Tom says.
