Glass Questions
The entry door window in my coach has lost its seal and now has water flowing around like a mini fish tank. Does anyone have any experience in removing and replacing that window…does the upholstery have to come off the inside or can it be changed from the outside?
Another glass issue….our church bus (a ’94 Prevost 56 passenger H3-45) has lost the seal in the side glass next to the driver. It is beginning to get dangerously fogged. Same question there…how big a deal is its removal and replacement.
I have both windows in hand and had a Binswanger tech to come by and take a look at the jobs…he confessed he didn’t know what he was doing…so we parted friends. I didn’t want him going to school on my coach.
Any help is appreciated. If needs be, I can take both coaches to a highly qualified tour company about 50 miles away (they own about 60 Prevosts) who have an excellent service department…think that would be smart? ty

Both are removed out from the outside. Tape the perimeter off, use a sharp utility knife and cut it out. You will need to cut around the perimeter from the inside as well. Not a bad job, however first time does take a while, you get faster with experiance….

Like Jeff said, first cut the caulk around the perimeter of the glass with a utility knife. Then you can pry the glass out. Next, spend three hours cutting and cleaning out the rest of the caulk in the seating channel and clean any residue from the glass. Sikaflex from Prevost is the oem stuff to buy. They will send you two 10oz tubes at 11 dollars each. I only needed one. Mask off the area around the outside and inside of the channel for easier clean up. Put a bead of sikaflex in the channel and push the glass in. If the gap around the glass is not full, fill it. Working time is short for clean up.

Unless it is a different version Sikaflex from what I was using from Prevost heating it helps it flow for application better.

My manual tells me to also use the Sikaflex primer after getting all the old glue off. I did this when I replaced mine 3 years ago and it seemed to work fine.

Interesting. I had never thought of trying to do this myself. I was considering trying to find a glass shop that would do it. And for some reason, I was thinking they’d have to cut new glass. Is there anything to treat the glass with to keep it from fogging again?
Is it better to remove the whole window from the bus, or just to go at taking the glass out with the window still installed?

No need to remove the window frames. The glass is easily removed with the frame in place.
