  • Girard awnings

We don’t use our Girard awnings much since we live where the wind blows nearly all the time BUT recently two of the four remotes failed to work when trying to put said awnings out. No problem since the standard switches inside the coaches got the job done. However, the search for new remotes was interesting and may add to info needed to keep these older coaches going. I can’t hold a candle to Lonestarace for vivid description and spectacular photography so my simple description will have to do.

Tech support at Girard useless. Nice folks but stock answer is old stuff no longer made and we don’t know of any work around.

Somfy is the awning supplier and their tech support also nice folks but solution was all new motors and updated remotes at $5-600 per awning.

So now I take remote apart and inside is a small circuit board TS433DP. Flight Systems is the king of circuit boards. They will analyze and repair the PLM boards for Cruisairs and sell same as well. They took the time to consider my problem which impressed me since it is such a small deal for them. The guy I dealt with is Tom Altigieri. He explained that that board is for a 10 DIP switch 433mhz remote which is outdated and said they would be glad to look at it but instead suggested trying to find a vendor with “learn” capability remotes.

Next stop Telecommande Universelle in Paris. They said they have one that will “learn” from a TS433DP board. So why not? $45 later got thing from France and works great.

So when old Girard remotes fail, there is a solution. Mike
