GFCI Outlet Problem
On our last trip, our COO informed our Maintenance Department that a GFCI Outlet under the cabinet over the galley sink was inoperative. Luckily, there was another outlet under the cabinet not 12″ from the inoperative one and the Maintenance Department simply moved the coffee maker cord to this one. However, the COO demanded that everything be operational (I guess that’s why she’s the Chief Operations Officer), so the Maintenance Department began the trouble shooting process. The Fluke verified the suspect outlet had 0.8 VAC while the one the coffee maker was plugged into had 121 VAC. Obviously a GFCI outlet has a reset button on the circuit somewhere. Alas, there was not a button to be found on any of the other outlets. Upon disassembling the inoperative outlet (maybe the neutral wire was loose), all the wiring was found to be intact. Removing the outlet box showed the romex cable was routed upwards behind the cabinet rear and disappeared into the roof. Before reassembling the outlet, the Maintenance Department noted the hot wire had Marathon Number 1324A attached to it. After several search missions to find the reset, the Maintenance Department has come to a stand still. Does anyone have a notion where to look?

My 01 has all gfi breakers in bay about 6 if red light is on that is it

Some of those breakers / boxes are on the ceiling of the bays..

Get a circuit tester at Lowes or any hardware and start testing plugs and which ones work and which don’t, If you find a GFCI that won’t reset make sure it has power going to it , they won’t reset without power, If no power check 110v breakers,

HI i have one in the same area that was working. it tripped. i have not been able to reactivate. been looking and cannot find the power to it.

While it is easy to suspect a problem inside the coach, a GFCI will trip if the shore power does not have a proper ground.
Don’t hesitate to check to determine if that is the problem. You don’t have to be an electrical engineer. Unplug the bus and start the generator or if it is on an inverter circuit that will work. If the GFCI resets and you have power at the outlets then the probable issue is the shore power.

Thanks Jon. The reply from Sandy nailed it. I found the breaker box in the ceiling of Bay 2. Breaker to the GFCI was tripped. As you stated, I suspected some type of shore power problem so I did fire the generator and checked the outlet but it was still dead. As to the reason the breaker tripped in the first place, jury is still deliberating. It hasn’t happened again. SOOOOO, the COO is happy
