Georgia Aquarium
Posted by Dick on January 27, 2015 at 9:53 pmWe’re returning from Florida to Wisconsin and would like to visit the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta. Anyone know of a place we can park the Prevost and toad safely in downtown Atlanta for the day? Thanks!

Camp out at Stone Mountain, short drive to MARTA and ride to town, then a short cab ride to the Aquarium or drive from S M to Aquarium parking garage.

Dick, Not familiar with downtown, but check with the Aquarium and look at a map for relationship of it to the convention center, stadium etc. We have had good luck at those type of venues. BTW it’s a little early for Wis….about 3-4 mos. ? Geo.

None of the above. Go to the Georgia World Congress Center Marshalling Yard on Ivan Allen Drive. They have a secure daily or overnight parking rate. It is a 4 block walk to the Aquarium from the lot. I lived in Atlanta for 30 years and we stay there probably 50% of the time we go back to the city.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We wanted to make the stop while “driving through” vs spending the night in the Atlanta area.
I looked hard at that Marshalling Yard on the map, but decided against it. Cathie searched for a Wal-Mart, found one about 4 or 5 miles north on I-75, she called them too see if we could park there, Wal-Mart asked us not to, suggested Krogers next door who were very accomodating. Fairly easy in, very easy out. Parking lot has numerous “NO Truck” signs … but had numerous semis, straight box trucks, tractors, seated coaches, shuttle buses in the lot. Short trip to the aquarium. After driving around downtown in the car, I was glad I didn’t have the coach to wrestle around.
The Georgia Aquarium is outstanding. I’ve been to a number of these in the past including the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and Georgia is the best in my opinion. The dophin show is absolutely great. Don’t miss it.
I know George … hopefully in a few years we can stay south longer.

To bad I was in FL and not at home Dick, it’s our normal practice at PC to buy dinner for members who visit Atlanta or Knoxville and Jon takes it one step further with a free campground and coach detailing. Once again, your due’s are at work.

I fully expect when I get to FL next week Tom will have some of what he is spreading all bagged up and ready for me to put on my garden.

I’m usually a day late and a dollar short. We spent two nights in Knoxville, a night outside of Brunswick (GA), and passed through Atlanta … we could have just as well spent the night in Atlanta.
Your member entertainment benefit policy is unprecidented and well appreciated.
If members can’t available themselves of an earned benefit, do you issue a token to be redeemed at a later date?
-
Yes, and we allow all tokens to be applied to the annual membership dues.
The enetertainment of the year however is the fun everyone has when Tom replaces his current bus with his :last one”.

Sounds good Jon. Roll mine over for another year and apply the appropriate amount of tokens.
