Generator won’t stay running
On a 5 week trip to OK,NM,AZ and CO and having generator issues. Could use some help in troubleshooting.
I need some validation of what I’m thinking for my generator. It is a Powertech 20K (2006 vintage). It starts fine and runs random time intervals before shutting down. This could be 30 minutes or it could be 7 hours. When it does shut down it has good oil pressure (65 lbs) and temp is 155-160 degrees (this seems low).
I spoke to the Powertech tech service folks and they instructed me to change out the “over temp” sensor which I did, but that didn’t fix the issue. I even ran the generator with the sensor unhooked and that didn’t help, so I’m thinking its not the overtemp sensor.
Air filter is new this year and has been checked. Fuel filters were replaced 6 months ago. Plenty of oil in the crankcase (and good oil pressures).
I have ordered a new fuel pump and run solenoid. About the only thing left that can shut me down is the oil pressure sensor, but I can always jumper across that if the fuel pump and run solenoid don’t work out.
Anything else I should be looking at? I’ve heard lots of talk about the solenoids here on PC. Hope that fixes it……
Thanks for your input
