Generator won’t keep running.
Generator wouldn’t start. Re-set the watchdog and it started but quits after about 30 seconds.
We aren’t sitting perfectly level but not too far off. Any suggestions ?

When the gen starts does the radiater blower fan come on? Usually it is not sensing 120V and shuts down. Verify blower fan running. If it shuts down does it fault out the watchdog and if so what lights are lite on it when it shuts down. If you need gen you can unplug watchdog and flip bypass swith and manually run gen from its own switch. That will also determine if it is gen issue or Liberty side issue.

Rod I had the same problem and turns out the coolant was low.

Yes. The coolant and the oil is fine.
I didn’t hear the fan run. When it shuts down the Watch Dog lights are showing the first and third in red. When I reset it and get the green light it starts and runs. When it shuts down the red lights come back on.

The cooling fan should be connected to the gernerator by a small circuit breaker on the side of the electricl part of the gernerator. Not sure how Liberty is set up, but on my Royale if the cooling fan did not run the gernerator would overheat and shutdown. I needed to replace the start capacitor on my cooling fan and then everything worked again. Do you show oil pressure on the oil pressure guage during the tiime that it is running? Look for loose or disconnected wires that go to all the sensors on the generator.

I had a similar problem. Mine was a faulty voltage regulator which caused no power, so the fan wouldn’t run either. The gen would start and run, but would shut down.

Easy to check for output. 30 seconds is long enough for the transfer switch to work so check for voltage at one of the bay outlets since those do not run through the inverter.
If there is voltage focus on the fan circuit or motor.

All fuses are good.
No power at outlets when generator is running.
Gen. does not run long enough to trip the transfer switch.
Bypassed the Watch Dog and put the fan in manual mode. It will not start at all in this mode. It just comes on and goes right off. Maybe 2 seconds total run time.

What Brand of Generator is it?

It is a 20kw Kohler.

If fuel is not the problem then you might try finding the low oil pressure sensor or any oil pressure sensor and take the wires leading to it and put them together to see if the sensor is bad. Do the same with the heat sensor. Be aware that if you actually have a oil pressure problem this procedure could cause some damage if it runs long enough.
Eventhough it is not running long enough to get hot, you may still have a bad heat sensor switch.
I assume these switches work in this manner. Normally open or normally closed, which ever. Good luck.

Check the inverter setup and make sure the generator is set to “manual.” And that “Quiet Time” isn’t causing the gen set to shut back down due to inverter control.

Verify AC power is coming up you can also do this at the buddy plug that only gets gen power. It sounds like oil pressure switch. You can also verify that the fuel shut off solenoid is loosing power prior to shut down.
