Yes. They can be reset from a reader. I think if power is removed from CB 19, 20, and 21 (rear electric box, numbers may not be exactly correct) some memory is lost also.

Back to my generator for a moment….fired it up today while plugged in to good 50 amp power at RV park.
Turned off all A/C and any other electrical draws prior to the start. All was well, ran all A/C’s and anything else we needed for about 2 hours, then I shut down all power draws first then shut down the generator.
I should have gone back to shorepower automatically but nothing came back from the pedestal, I have a surge protector on it and it was not powering up in the usual manner, nothing…..checked all my circuit breakers, all was well, inverters were off, nothing!
Checked the pedestal for power, nothing, so I called the office and advised them of this. They sent one of their crew out almost instantly, he checked it out and found a tripped circuit breaker 3 pods away on their line, problem fixed.
I am wondering if any of my actions may have caused this?
Oh, and another thing……generator exhaust smokes like crazy! 1843 hours on it, just serviced with all new filters and oil by a very professional and trustworthy person in Lakeland Fl, aka “the Florida busman”…… John Silver. Why the smoke?

What dose smoke smell like fuel or oil and what color ,,are you losing coolant or oil over full ?????

Seems like u have a lot of issues take it to royale Phoenix I was just there get service and they know there stuff the best service I have had just two guys that worked for royale kind of mom and pop place no bullshit don’t have to ask somebody if they can do that just did it I like that a lot fixed many things for me no work orders just tell them then they fix it when there done if something comes to mind tell them they fix the best Glen and Dan are great if u have royale coach they are the best

Georges,
It is unlikely you did anything to trip the circuit breaker. If you overload shore power the breaker that should trip is the one at your shore power box.
As to smoke, the number of hours on your generator indicates it is virtually new. Entertainers run their generators for 20 times that number of hours so something is not right. It could be as simple as being loaded up with crud (a technical term) from being run lightly loaded. Our generators benefit highly from long frequent operation with heavy loads. Light loading and short runs tend to mess up the injectors.
Before heading for service load up your generator and run it for several hours. See if that doesn’t help. Fresh fluids and filters are good, but they won’t clean up internal build ups of carbon. If you want to create heavy loads the obvious will be to run all ACs. But don’t forget other electrical loads such as electric HW heater, toe space heaters, electric range, outdoor grille, microwave, turn on all the lights, etc.
Keep in mind that some diesel engines are going to have some form of visual exhaust. Some diesel exhaust is going to smell. The different colors and odors all mean something, but to classify a little smoke as an indication of a problem might be premature. If the amount of smoke is excessive, or will not clean up with some extended loaded operation, or has an unusual odor (such as the smell of antifreeze) then you have something that needs attention.

Thanks Jon, the generator smoke is blueish and it smells of oil. The breaker at the RV park tripped, has done it once before since we have been there.
Today’s 100 mile drive was another interesting event………..transmisssion check light came on a couple or more times, then all of a sudden the “do not shift light” came on and stayed on, while transmission position light showed it to be in neutral (I was going 55 mph when all this took place). Since I was on a one lane highway (FL17 between Fort Myers and Lakeland), I could not pull over anywhere for about 15 miles, when I slowed down to make the turn into the truck stop, transmission shifted back into gear, all warning lights went off. When I stopped, I did the ATEC ecu check, it was 2-1, checked trans oil, it seemed overfilled, the Dextron canister in the engine compartment seems to be empty.
After about 30 minutes we got underway again, trans warning light blinked once then stayed off for the reamaining 35 miles!!
At least we are in a nice park (San-Lan) in Lakeland for the night.

I forgot………..since I still can’t post a new thread on the site………..my rear view TV monitor is showing me a reverse image on the screen! The image is great but it reverses the image, the left lane traffic shows up on tthe right of the monitor and the curbside lane is on my left. I have done absolutely nothing to the closed circuit TV system. Any ideas?
-
Pull your monitor. On the rear should be a switch that lets you select a camera view or a reverse view.
I suspect you have the 5 speed transmission. If I recall they really do not like being overful and if so you should have noticed transmission oil temps higher than the engine temps. There is a small 1/8″ plug on the side of the transmission or transmission oil pan (I can’t remember which and don’t have one to look at). When the coach is COLD start it up, let it idle in neutral, and if the fluid level is correct it should be at the hole the plug is in. If none runs out, it is too low, if it runs out let it drain until it stops.
You have to get under the coach so you need to raise it and block it up at least the night before. With it raised up there is room to get under and get at the plug.
I have no clue why you got a “do not shift” of why it went to neutral. And especially no clue how it repaired itself.

the Dextron canister in the engine compartment seems to be empty.
Would that not be the power steering reservoir?
-
That is what it is on mine. There is no external reservoir for the transmission.
