  • Generator shut down

Power Tech generator. Starts and runs great for about 30 minutes. It then shuts down, apparently over heated. However, the water in the radiator is cold. Water pump? Thermostat stuck? Any ideas? Where would the water pump be located? Plenty of oil and the one engine belt is good. No unusual noises.

Look in the radiator with the cap off ans see if the water is curculating. It could be a stuck thermostat or the impeller rusted or fell off of the water pump.

It appears the belt was not as good as it appeared from the view available. The belt was so worn it was not really turning the water pump as needed. There was also a broken wire on the temp sensor. With both of those repaired we are hopeful that will be it.
