Your
shore power outage will cause your inverters to invert using your
house batteries and when the auto-start parameters are met with the
watch dog, assuming you have it on, the gen will start and run for a
per-determined amount of time.

My concern was that if I am away from the coach and it’s a hot day with the cruse air running and shore power goes out, the cruse air will not run on the inverters.

Will it run “a pre-determined amount of time” or until the house batteries have been brought up to a certain voltage level? I thought it was the latter.

When plugged in on shore power (whether at the campground or at home on dedicated 50amp) I have the system to “Generator Auto-Start” in case something happens to the shore power (I don’t want whatever loads are “on” to drain the batteries to zero). The Cruise-Airs are set to go on (I can’t run the CA’s off the inverter either). So far, I don’t recall ever losing shore power unexpectedly, but I’m ready.

I had my Generator set at the breaker panal to Auto Start but thought that there might be some other setting somewhere, we had a bad storm at the campground and lost power for two days, I had to manually start the generator, the light was on at the panel indicating Auto Start but it did not start with the shore power outage, Im baffeled

Libby do you know of you have the original inverters installed by Liberty when the coach was new? Or have they been upgraded? Do you have a 24volt (Elegant Lady) or 12 volt (Classic Lady) coach? (Not sure it makes a difference.)

Its my understanding (and experience) that the Auto-Start will kick in when the voltage of the house batteries get down to a point. Hence if you were plugged into shore power and lost shore power, I would not expect the generator to auto-start until the coach had drained the house batteries down to the set point for auto-start. Whether you are plugged into a “dead” shore power receptacle or not plugged into anything, I don’t think that the Auto-Start system knows the difference; note “don’t think” … I don’t know that for an absolute fact.

If you dry camp, will the generator auto-start when the house batteries get low?

yes on the dry camp, it will start and it is a 12 volt liberty coach, to my knowlage they are the same inverters.

This is of great concern to me, especially if you have pets.

Before anyone assumes the AC units will continue running if the coach has a power outage I would urge you to set your coach up with the AC running, and auto-start or shore power interrupt selected.

Then turn off the shore power. I suspect your AC units are likely to shut down, and when the generator restarts or shore power is restored I do not believe the AC units will automatically restart with the probability it is going to get very hot inside the coach likely.

Please verify how you coach will perform before you make an assumption that can have serious consequences if you are wrong.

That was my concern, I do have pets and by luck was home when the storm hit and took out the shore power. I wated and the generator did not start but the coach ran on the inverters, i had to manually start the generator to get the air on. everyone should check to make sure pets are protected when away from the coach..

Hi everyone, I just talked to Liberty coach in Stuart, FL. they said that on the older coaches (12 volt ) there is an upgrade available to allow the generator to start if shore power is lost, runs about $500 to $600. there number is 772-463-2701

The problem is the A/C’s won’t cycle back on when the gen starts on your vintage coach.
