  • Generator does nothing…

Posted by Richard on June 28, 2021 at 1:52 pm

frown My generator ran two weeks ago. I usually start it every other week and let it warm up. This week I pressed the Run switch, and the lights went thru their sequence of Red = Glow, Yellow = Start, Green = Run however the generator never tried to start. I walked outside to the driver’s side electrical bay and switched the run switch on and noticed the “Cranking Reset” button had popped out. Pressed it back in and tried the on switch. generator made no effort to turn over after a bit the “Cranking Reset” button had popped out again. Could this be in the transfer box? I have attached a few pictures for reference.

That’s a fuse/circuit breaker. Look for a short or excessive load.

Thanks Jon, I haven’t put my meter on it yet. I’ll test it tomorrow and post anything I found.

    FYi

We recently replaced the radiator hoses on our ’95 Marathon generator. Access was made by removing the drawers on top of the battery box and the surrounding cabinet. Attaching a couple of photos that shows access. Work was done at Dallas Marathon.

    Bob & Gerri,

Never fun to do maintenance on these beautiful rigs however if we do not the results a very unsatisfying.
