gen wont stay running
My generator works perfect one time and not the next. What I have noticed is if it has been plugged into shore power for any amount of time it will operate perfectly. However, if say i make a road trip with the gen running and then shut the gen and the coach off, when I try to crank it up it will fire up for maybe a minute and then go off, as long as I hold the start button down it runs. It will continue this until I plug it back into shore power even for just a minute, its almost like plugging it into shore power resets something and its good to go until I shut if off and try to use it again before its plugged back in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was having a similar issue. I press the “Start Gen” button, the generator started. If I released the “Start Gen” button, the generator shut down.
If I continued to hold the “Start Gen” button for 30 to 45 second, sometime longer after the generator was running, then released the “Start Gen” button it would continue to run.
Since I was a new owner, I assumed it was normal, but after I had the generator serviced (oil and filter changes) it no longer does this. I now press the “Start Gen” button and release and the generator continues running. I am not sure if something else was changed to fix this issue while it was in the shop.
Wish I could have been more help. I am interested what the issue maybe.

Your generator has several sensors that will shut it down, by holding the start button down the starter was probably keeping it running.
Since you changed the oil and filter and all is fine it sounds like the low oil pressure sensor was shutting it down.

Jeff and Brenda, it sounds like the gen fuel shutoff valve or gen fuel pump may have a bad connection or is failing intermittently.
Also, when was the last time the gen fuel filter(s) were changed? -
My $2 worth……I just had to change out the “Over-Temp” sensor on my Powertech 20kw generator. It would run for random times and shut down. Powertech instructed me to change out the sensor that shuts the generator down if it gets hot. (BTW….my temps were only about 155 degrees when it shut down). Simple $5 fix and easy to do yourself.
