  • Gauge Lights

Posted by Jackson on September 5, 2017 at 9:07 pm

The gauge lights on my 98 Liberty seem to be very dim. The speedo and tach are ok, but the other ones are dim. Has anyone changed the bulbs to something brighter? LED’s? Thanks in advance…

With the round style gauge lights on my two previous Libertys (actually all Prevost coaches of that vintage) that was a serious issue that I could not resolve due to not being able to find brighter lights. I ended up using a red lensed flood light like the map light my Liberty had over the driver and passenger seat.

I added one directly above the panel under the Cruisair / TV cabinet above the windshield and while not an especially elegant solution it was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

My planes had red lighting and it worked well and did not affect night vision.

On one of my XL’s I installed 12v mini bulbs instead of the 24v then turned the rheostat down to adjust the voltage and the gauges were nice and bright. But, if someone cranks up the rheostat it will take the bulbs out.

Tom do you happen to remember the number or where you got them. I keep burning mine out as well.
