Into amazon – I got these and the seem to work great. They don’t dim as much as I’d like… but the do dim. And they fit easier than the puck ones. They also have different wattages so you can get brighter or dimmer based on your needs. And they are CHEAP.

Went with the same LED’s I had in my 02 and they work great. They are dimmable PWM and dim with no problem. Had them in the 02 for 4 years with no issues. About 40 bucks for 50 of them, here’s the EBay link:

Tom…I’am sure you’ll be fine. Your bus does not have Prevost MultiPlex system…that’s the difference.

The more I thought about this the more I question the fact of having multiplex should have any effect on Marathon interior lighting.
Explain that if you could BA, remember, I’m just now actually accepting a slide so I’m a little behind you high tech guys.

Tom, unless the circuits are part of a system such as multiplex where the circuit loads are measured to identify excessive loads such as a short, or lighter loads such as a bulb failure you can change lighting as long as you do not exceed the current carrying capacity.
Some coaches have multiplex for the house but I suspect those systems likely do not prevent changes to the type of lighting. The Prevost chassis however is set up with its multiplex system to alert on discrepancies such as those I mentioned above and any change in the actual load on the circuit is reported in the message center. You can modify the lighting on a Prevost with multiplex but that change might require reprogramming of the master multiplex module.

I used the PC Jar Opener, didn’t break any rings and changed out 46 lights.

Advice from Marathon engineering…. confirmed today.
Sure don’t want to confuse Polk City owners.
Expensive, recommended by Marathon, dimmable. compatible with techlink and S-2 or S-3 boxes….. no issues.
Mentioned today was the make up of each bulb. “FET” with these bulbs having “field effect transistors” relating to instant on-off at button press and low energy consumption.

No confusion in Polk City BA, the lights are instant on, dim as advertised just like they did on my 02. But no problem, feel free to spend 170 per bulb vs 10, I’ll buy fuel with the difference.

I’ve been watching this thread with great interest. The debate rages on. Just found Tom’s suggestion: 10 for $6.99. Why not try an order of these for less than 1/3 of what Marathon is quoting for one of their “official” replacement LEDs? I know I’m going to give it a go and if they don’t work well, there’s always the trash can.

Lets slice and dice this LED bulb issue.
Marathon has found a bulb which meets engineer requirements tech link dimming and switching. With no side effects.
The big elephant in room is price. Marathon probably pays half of what we pay. With 50 +/- bulbs inside the coach this alone is $400 bucks per coach going on for over 10 years.
Use of this $16 LED bulb has been in place when MultiPlex started, Marathon S-2 boxes (switching) were changed and in 2010 changed again to S-3 better switching and power management.
I’ve had a failure with an original S-2 box which pretty much controls salon electrical. My replacement and upgrade is to a S-3 box. Re-programing Crestron also required, Marathon – Dallas handled everything.
Wrote the check for $2K. All is good now.
One of the most frustrating issues with ownership in my opinion are electrical issues. I’ll be waiting for posting after these economy bulbs are in service in Multiplex operating Marathons.
Maybe you guy’s are on to something.

Al, if I’m not mistaken, I was quoted somewhere in the $22 range each when I was at Marathon last May. That’s around a grand to upgrade. I really hope these work. Might be the best $35 bucks I’ve spent…..
