  • G4 Dimmable LEDs Finally

Posted by Larry & Diane on May 11, 2016 at 5:50 pm

Ok… after much trial and error I have finally found the correct G4 LEDs that are dimmable and 12V-30V … they fit and they are the Warm White not the Bright White and they are VERY easy to change out.. the glass has a non slip coating on it making them very easy to handle. The color is the same as the G4s that came in the bus which is great. Had them turned on for an hour and they were still cool to touch.

I got them on Ebay and paid around $5 each… tried to make a deal but the guys an idiot. He sells them in pkgs of 6 and will only list a few pkg at a time.. shipping was super fast I had them in 2 days.. I am now waiting for the rest to arrive.. I just bought 3 pks to try them out & I am very happy with them.

Here is the Ebay Item number: 262379446278 .

Thank you for posting this information. Are the leds about the as bright as the 20w halogens?

    Bryan…

    I can’t tell them apart… that’s the good part !!

I previously bought some that were Bright White and they were way too bright even when dimmed sort of a blue light rather than a yellow tint…

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers…. Diane

You may have a temperature issue with those bulbs. Between the reflector and the glass lens, ther is no way for the heat to escape. If they start failing you may need to remove the glass lens.

    Mikee…

Our Liberty has no lenses installed…. also they didn’t put out any heat at all after being on for an hour? I thought the LED’s were designed to be cooler than the Halogen which put out a burning heat? That was my reason for changing to LEDs. Am I missing something here?

    Thanks, Diane

    Bobbyd9083….

The guy on Amazon is the same seller I got mine from on Ebay… I don’t have the free shipping deal with Amazon so the price worked out to be the same and I got mine in 2 days which was great.

This seller is wierd the way he listes the quantities… I asked him in the beginning if he had 50 available and he said no he only had 3 pkgs (=18) and as soon as I paid him his listing changed to 3 pkgs available again… I think he just doesn’t understand when you email him….however he ships out immediately everytime which is good.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Cheers, Diane

    Hi Larry,

The LEDs will generate a small amount of heat. I have seen some that were installed in a small closed situation fail from hi temp. These were in a small fixture that has no escape for air. LEDs do not generate much heat, but if it cannot escape it will build up. With no lens there should be no worry.
