Future PC Rallies in Doubt

Jon and Tom,
First and foremost thanks for all the both of you have done for all of us. Thanks for the times I called while on the road with a problem. I don’t even mind the comments about CC OTR AC because you both get as good as you give.
As for POG, I really enjoyed being part of that group, sheep and all! That is to say the people of POG. Its kind of like a church. A Church is just a brick and mortar building, the real Church is the people in attendance.
I still work even though I retired from what I did for over 32 years. It is difficult to schedule time for rallies. I had already signed up for Tampa, paid when I registered, and recently an annual meeting of the Southern District of ITE scheduled their meeting for the week before Tampa. I sighed relief and the SDITE meeting is being held in Greensboro Georgia. I’ve found a way to be out of the office, with my wife and our “Classic Coach”, at least that’s what Jon calls it, surrounded by friends we know and and friends we have yet to meet. Best of all I get paid for half the trip. In today’s vernacular, “SWEET!”
Back to POG. I had paid for two years, after all I was having fun so my subscription ended shortly after the unfriendly takeover. I was taken aback the new owner was continuing to send messages and soliciting membership renewals using Jim Skiff’s email address. I thought that looked very, shall we say “shady.” So I let my subscription expire even before PC came alive. I too have friends that I met while a POG subscriber. I also have friends from attending PC and other organization’s rallies.
The business model that Jon and Tom have put together is a winner for all. POG, well not so much. As is often said, “knowledge is power” and that is what is found here at PC. Jon and Tom, if you need some help in putting a Rally together and there is some area that I can take a lead role in, simply ask. Let’s let the good times roll on!

Let me add my two cents here as well. As you know I haven’t met either of you but both of you were hugely helpful in me making an informed decision on purchasing our bus last December. We are 10 months into the most amazing trip with our kids.. You have connected me to other Marathon Owners like Al and Sid who have been super helpful as well. What you guys have built here at PC is nothing short of amazing in my mind. Even better than driving around in this amazing bus… having the support of you guys and this group has made a huge differnce. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to make a rally but hopefully that changes… I am in the event production business and know all too well the work and details to pull off a successfull event…. As soon as we are done with this current trip in August, add me to the list of PC members willing to help with rallies big or small. I was at Prevost in Mira Loma Last week and met a couple of newer owners and really talked PC up…
So thanks for everything !

here for the knowledgeable insights, respectful conversation, and cash saving
discounts – thanks for all that by the way! For us, this place has so much more value than a big rally.We do like the idea and would attend a mini “Unrally.” Low
cost, low commitment events with fellow prevost community members sharing road
stories, tips, and a pizza sounds about right to us.When we’re home, we keep the bus at Las Vegas Motorcoach
Resort and would be happy to help host an “unrally” here or join a long weekend
caravan to nearby attractions in Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California. -

Guys I would love to have another Lobster rally, Although we only had 3 coaches, I enjoyed it tremendously, Rick can you line up the lobsterman again? The only agenda was to cook the Lobsters and eat all you could, freeze the rest to take home, same RV Park same dates Do your own thing, This was sort of a learning experience, found out the hard way about charge air coolers, and cracks in the lower panels, but what the heck, life is to short to complain about the trivial things, enjoy this world and all thats in it, and friends you meet along the way! Sorry to hear about the rallies, but definitely appreciate the work involved as we’ve done several ourselves with other goups.
I am so glad this site is here, however, as so many of my questions have been answered. The clock is ticking as March 27 is our first night officially full time in our bus, and I know that I will be “living” on this site asking questions!!

Like everyone I was sorry to hear about the rally situation. Thanks to you Tom and Jon and everyone that contributed to the past success. Branson was our first rally and it was great in every way. New experiences, new friends,and a wealth of new knowledge and information. We regret not being to make Lazy Days but appreciate your efforts and all the benefits you have created thru the programs you have established and the huge pool of knowledge you have gathered together at PC. Others have offered and you can add my name to the list to share the load for whatever needs PC may have. Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !

I think that Jon and Tom’s reasoning on rallies is spot on. Until circumstances and the atmosphere changes, it’s just not worth it. But, in the meantime, I think membership driven and inspired “mini rallies” are a great alternative. They can be held seasonally and regionally with a minimum of fuss, and can be great fun. Just for starters, something like Lobsta Fest can expand. A group of us has gone to Everglade Isle the last couple of years and has decided next year to do it after Seafood Fest from now on, as none of us were going to the festival anyway(having more fun among ourselves) and it is half the price after or before that weekend. The possibilities are endless. We all know of possible places in our given regions or in our travels and the rest is just up to our imaginations. Lets toss around some ideas in Tampa next month.

Is put on mainly by the city in Ark. With a restored Greyhound Station. A seniccruiser owner was/is the main organizer. 63 vintage buses last time–Plus a group of Eagle several Prevost etc. Point being the Eagle group made it a destination for their group to get together. No reason the Prevost guys couldn’t have a Prevost group area also and share in the activities.. Of course the main theme was the celebration of the History of the BusDepot and transportation.. The mear mention of a possible redo next year a couple days ago has gotten near 20-25 will be there. Last time people flew in from overseas. And most states were reprensented. Arcadia around New Years every year is attended by many prevost owners with usually 100 buses–this year missed was only in high 90s.Several clubs have their business meetings on the side away from everyone else (attend as clubs) There are dealers and some vendors there. Eagles Club have pitched in at several rallies with donuts and coffee for breakfast (example) to help = To make rallies a break even point..I did not go into more detail than that because I know much more has been given by eveyone to help out and others rally suceed/break even ,well not to painful.

Jon came up with a good idea… Instead of Mini Rally’s, we’re going to call them No Rally Rally’s.

Here’s a hint. Tom and I like getting together with other Prevost enthusiasts, talking about our coaches, swapping lies, and just having a good time. So if either or both of us can fit a get together into our plans, whether it is a formal full blown rally or just a bunch of folks who think it would be neat to meet at some RV park we are apt to show up. As long as we don’t have to work.

I know, we can plan a rally around my coach! All the guys can tear into my engine compartment and wiring and the women can sit around and wonder what the hell’s wrong with us.
The evenings can be drinks, campfires and me paying for dinner! Popeye’s Chicken for everyone!

There has to be at least one discenter in the crowd. For the Florida folks the Tampa rally is a no-brainer and I would be surprised if any would opt for New Orleans when Tom and Jon will do such a fine job in Tampa. For those of us that travel long distances, especially from the west ie Texas and west, the fact that one can attend a rally in New Orleans and then have an ample 5 days to head for Tampa is just an added incentive for more fun. For me this doesn’t equate as a conflict but as an opportunity.
I am also thankful that disputes between the management of POG and PC are none of my business. Since many of us have good friends in both groups, if there are disagreements let them remain private and between those who can resolve the issues. Seems to me most of the membership have no dog in the fight.

do respect your opinion Brian, but the reason I stated why we would
not be doing any more structured Rally’s was for the group as a
whole. With 980 members, the correct thing to do was to explain why
there would be no more and the reasons behind that decision. There is
no professional courtesy on the other side and my efforts to have a
new beginning have been ignored and swept under the rug as usual.So
the wrong thing to do would have been to announce our decision to not
have anymore structured Rally’s and then keep that reason hidden from
the folks on this site. We don’t do it that way. The OKC Rally was
already on the books, so with that cancellation, the members should
have gotten a straight explanation and they did.You
are incorrect about doubting anyone would opt for one vs the other,
that’s a fact.We’re

this answer doesn’t keep you hidden in the bushes.
