Mine has never puked fuel… Yet. Once mine kicks off automatically, I do the rest by hand. I can get another $20-30 in after the auto click off. It’s worth it to me to get as much fuel in there as possible. I only have about a 120 gallon tank. I fill it all the way to the neck!

Do you have the single side fill?
There was never an issue on coaches with the passenger side fill only. It happens with XL two side fill coaches. I don’t know when it got fixed by my XLII has never puked despite my practice of filling at the highest flow possible.

Yeah, single fill on the curb side. Sometimes I wish for dual fills. Now I guess, I am glad I don’t have it. Kinda like the small tank. Sometimes I wish I had a larger one… but then I have to pull in and fuel up and I am glad it is smaller! haha

Songman,
So, you have a curb-side only fill? Do you fuel with the satelite pump only? Or, do you go in backwards?
I’ve heard of some folks will go in the ‘opposite’ direction at the truck stops to fill their DEF tanks as the early ones were on the passenger side.
Safe travels,

I have a XL40 and it will puke if filled fast. I lean and pump the last bit by hand now.
I think the puking has to do with the fuel tube enters the tank well below the top of the tank and the air escape tube is too small to handed the amount of air leaving the tank compared to the entering fuel volume. Therefore pressure is built up in that space above the fuel entery level of the tank and it pushes fuel out to equalize the pressure. I wonder if that air hose has some restriction on it that is gummed up or such.

Mark, I’m not brave enough to go in backwards. That would get you in trouble in a busy truck stop in a hurry! I just use the satellite pump. It’s just one extra step so not a big deal. The only thing I wish was different, is I wish that they had a readout on the satellite pump. I would prefer to be able to stop my pump on an even number. But it’s not that big of a deal. And thank God I don’t have to buy DEF too! haha
