Fuel filters?
I have been using a Detroit fuel filter # 23530645 spin on and a Racor S3202 that the plastic bowel screws on to. Are most fuel filters ok ? What’s is an alternative, Is Prevost ok to buy filters from?

In the absence of any data showing otherwise I have primarily used Baldwin, or if out of stock used Donaldson. Both from Truck-Pro.
I have used NAPA, Detroit, and Wix over the years, but to me they are generic so I usually just get what is on the shelf at Truck-Pro.

On fuel filters…..
Going to your NAPA jobber, ask to see the Wix filter catalog. With that and the Wix filter number you can determine what strength do you wish to catch trash in the filter.
Filters all rated in microns
Wix carries a serious amount of speciality filters ie. extended length to increase amount of oil in system capacity.

FYI…Detroit Diesel branded are bid manufactured. Sooooo you have no idea who won the bid.
If you stick with WIX you’ll get a quality filter, well built for your application.

Is secondary filter 10 microns?

Yes and no. Some coaches have two spin on filters and a third filter installed aftermarket or by a converter. 10 microns is not unreasonable, but if you stack up all the restrictions from the primary, secondary and converter installed filter such as a Racor you may be imposing a serious restriction to fuel flow.
I am not saying it is right, but I had the spin on primary, secondary and a Racor with the drop in pleated cartridge and I use a 30 micron in that unit which was designed to not only filter the fuel but to act as a water trap.

My primary is the big Racor 1000FG that Jon described, also w/30 micron pleated filter. I use the Fleetgaurd# FS20203.
My secondary is a 10 micron filter Fleetgaurd# FF5206 which crosses over to a NAPA# 3120 or Wix# 33120. -
On my Primary on the plastic bowl it has a electricalplug with 2 wires, some kind of water sensor? If so does it need to be there, Lots of filters have no water trap or a built in water trap?

My guess is those wires are for a water sensor. Do the wires connect to anything? Do you have an H2O light on your dash ? If not, then leave it in place, or replace it with a plug.

Racor filters have up to two sets of wires. The wires on the bowl are for the water sensor (feeds a warning light on my dash). The optional second set is for a fuel heater.
BTW, Racor sells an add-on pressure gauge to warn you of a filter beginning to clog.
