That is for 2014 IH lost the court battle with Volvo and Cummins they still pay the fine to use their engine in the Monocos they build and they use the C-15 Cat in their trucks for export Cat and IH have a plant in China been there with a friend of mine that set the engine plant up
You can buy a glider kit from Paccar and use any engine you choose just pay the $19290 fine Davenport just did that with his KW’s he installed a C-16 with 750 hp fwiw non EPA engines another little tid bit I have 2 -14L series 60 non EGR made in 2005 fwiw

International no longer owns Monoco. Was sold off a while back.

I have a Eagle I just sold a 2002 H -45 and we are looking at 2008 Liberty in Texas I want to stay away from the 2010 and after Prevost or others I have owned several Prevost,MCI and Eagles over the years and I like the Prevost but Eagles are a classic and I probably will always have one around no matter what I own

After several trips in the XL now, I am averaging right on 5.5mpg. This is with an 8V92 and Allison 755. I actually think I can get a little bit better. The problem is that I let my friend drive on the last couple of trips a little bit… He is a retired 30 year truck driver. One one trip, I drove one way on the trip and then I went to the back and hung out with friends and watched a movie on the way back. At one point, I said to my friends “Did it sound and feel like this when I was driving?” He was driving the thing like a race car and also seemed to be going back and forth from the center reflectors to the rumble strip! At one point I went up there and asked him if he knew how fast he was going. He said probably around 65. The bulb on the speedo is dim. I looked down and he was running almost 80! So I have no doubt that with me driving, staying around 65-70, I could get better mileage. I don’t expect it to ever be anything to brag about. It is a heavy bus. I think driving habits and even the trans and gearing are more important than what engine you have. No science behind it, but that is just what I think. I have known too many people who have spent a fortune to put 4-strokes in Eagles expecting big mileage gains that never appeared.

Dale,
My first coach had an 8V92 and the Allison 755. Over 17 years of ownership my lifetime average fuel consumption was 5.6 MPG.
I have the logbook. It wasn’t a big deal because we paid as little as $.63 and it was a long time before we paid more than a dollar a gallon. Today I might look for better mileage, but I don’t think the 2 stroke engines will deliver better mileage.
Don’t let you truck driver friend drive your bus. He is dangerous.
