Front windshield shade on 1998 XLV kaput
The electric passenger side windshield shade on our 1998 XLV Liberty Elegant Lady (24 volt coach) suddenly (and without ANY warning whatsoever) started to make a very loud noise while we were raising or lowering it and then very shortly thereafter quit working altogether. When I work the switch, I can hear some “clicking”, but no movement whatsoever.
Are the front windshield (and driver/pax side window) shades a Prevost installed item? or a Liberty Coach item?
Our coach still has two huge binders of manuals for the stuff Liberty put into the coach. There is a Hunter-Douglas electric blind manual, but it appears to address the side window shades in the salon and stateroom only. This makes me wonder if this windshield shares aren’t a Prevost install.
I tried to get the shade off the coach, but the motor is inside the shade and appears to be hard wired (without much slack) to wires which disappear up above into the TV cavity. Before I dig into that, I thought I’d find out where to take this for repair or replacement.

Dick, I had the same issue 12 years ago on my Liberty. Call Bill Doherty, he will have you mail the shade to him. Then he will send it somewhere to be fixed. Then that somewhere will send it back to Bill. And Bill will send it back to you. It was so insignificant, I can’t remember what the cost was, might have been $30 dollars, in 12 years ago dollars. You may not get progress reports as it’s in process. It just shows up one day. Despite all I said here, it’s quite simple.
Just follow the cord to the duplex in the cabinet above the windshield, it may be buried, but you will find it there.

If you find that you have a Somfey 12 volt motor, I have a spare I can bring up to you as I am only 16 miles South of your present position.

Thanks Jeff. Plugging my motor in would probably let the smoke out of those plastic tubes connected to the motor
