Not sure where you see the 1/4″ difference, but I do know if the door doesn’t whistle as you go down the road, leave it the way it is.

A lot of time and effort has been spent trying to get the doors adjusted so they don’t make noise.

They are adjustable, so if there is an issue you can work with it to correct the problem.

Coach is level and the door closes a bit hard. So saw that the top was going in a bit further than the bottom. Going down the road it doesn’t make any noise. When I initially got the the coach, the door was hitting the body of the coach. So I adjusted it a bit to move more to the left to keep it from hitting.

I guess that brings up another question. Is it normal for the door to be somewhat hard to close. If I don’t latch the door, it will stick out 3 inches. it then takes a bit of effort to get the door latched from that point. You really have to slam the door almost. Unlatching from the inside, it helps to pull on the door before moving the handle.

I’m getting to the point where I’m finding all the little issues and tweaking them.

Look at bottom edge close. then door frame. That’s not normal. Not a deal breaker or hard fix. Should be a spot where it is rubbing. A tall bank or curb is nortorious about bending bottom step up a little causing those problems. There is not much in the hindge area that something could get jammed in. There is a small slotted cam in top hindge with a spring but no way I see It could malfunction or cause your symptom most of the time they just freeze(open) and cause your door to work to easy.(they add a little tension to the door assembly). Also check what ever your bottom step is covered with Tile-wood etc to make sure there is enough clearance between it and the door. Just some areas to look at. One last thought -do you have a docking lite/turning lite mounted in the door? if so the electrical wires for it run thru the top hindge. If the wires or ties came loose would cause binding. That’s all I have.

Thanks again.. I have a locksmith working on my safe that I didn’t get the key for. The door was bothering him also so he noticed that the board at the bottom was hitting first and that seemed to be the cause. Tomorrow, I’ll remove that board from the bottom of the door to see if that is the issue. It is just there for decoration.

My docking lights are a bit farther back so not an issue. If the board isn’t the cause, I’ll work on your other suggestions.

After reviewing the door for a while, I noticed that the top forward part of the door was hitting first. I put a shim in the top hinge of the door. That improved how the door operates a lot. Now the door is almost closed all the way before there is any resistence. I don’t see any daylight through the gaskets as I did when I loosened the bolts on the door.

I’ll find out the next time we go down the road if I put too much of a shim in place. Can easily modify on the road if needed.

Go make some diesel dust. You have a great reason for a road trip, even if it is only some miles down the closest freeway. You need to atke advantage of all opportunities presented you before the cost of diesel rises more!

We are full timing in our coach. We are soon to leave Mesa AZ and start heading north to eventually be back in Montana. Our current plans are to then head west to Seattle and then work our way down the coast. Then to be back here in Mesa AZ next October/November time frame.
