Front air system charging up fully in road mode question?
I know I have posted several things on this subject with different phases of trying to get my front airbag system operating properly, so in advance thank you for your patience and feedback.
I installed (replaced) a front solenoid that was DOA that is responsible for filling the front airbags through the ride height valve when the key is on, or operate the manual level low system when the key is off. The valve is normally closed with the power off. After installation, when the key is on and air tanks charged, the front airbags fill to capacity when the switch is in the run position, and the only way to get the front back down to level is to switch to manual and bleed the air back down enough.
Now for the history. I have always had to manually adjust the front with the level low to bring it up to ride height. This was due to not being able to locate the faulty solenoid because it was hidden in the axle area and covered with foam insulation. Since I was back from relocation, I decided to spend the necessary time and effort to get it located and fixed. When I originally purchased the coach, I installed a front ride height valve thinking that was the issue, but it didn’t resolve it. I say that to ask, could I have accidentally reversed the two lines on the ride height valve I replaced a long time ago, and would that cause the issue or? I look at the ride height valve when it is aired up and the front way up is pulling the valve level down, which should be telling the air to bleed, but it’s not.
Your probably shaking your head saying “This Guy” and I understand…. But I think I am overthinking things to the point of confusion now and need someone to set me back straight please?

Other than using the level low to get the air OUT of an air bag, how were you thinking you should be able to do. The level low will work key on or key off by simply rotating the switch on or off the Drive position. In any position other than Drive, ONLY the level low can put air in or out of the air bags.
Do you have some kind of auto level that is not functional?

When my bus is in auto level (Road) mode, the front bags fully inflate now instead of stopping at normal height. The only way to adjust the front back down to level is switch to level low so I can manually adjust the air. That is how my system is set up to operate. The selector you are referring to is a later version than mine, I have a toggle switch that is either road mode (auto level) or level low (Manual adjust) that adjusts the front, right rear, left rear independently. After replacing the front solenoid valve, and earlier the front leveling control valve the front raises all the way up in road mode.

Richard when you installed the new ride height valve did the front of the coach level out or has this been an issue even after you installed it? If it did not level out after installation there is an issue. Looking at the operation you have an air input line (air feed) and an output line (to the bag) to air up the bag. So if you reverse the lines it would dump air when it should be increasing air pressure to the bags. I think you may just have the leveling arm adjusted incorrectly. If the bags are maxing out its adjusted to high up. One way to check is to put the front wheels on some ramps so you can get under it without jacking and lower the arm on the valve all the way down and see if the ride height lowers. I made me some 2 x 12 ramps when I was adjusting my ride height.

OK, I will get it up on ramps, check all of my connections, and test the ride height valve. I haven’t gotten under it much until lately due to the warnings and it is so close to the ground. Even with backups to supports, I am still uncomfortable. I will purchase some 2×12’s and make some ramps.
