This looks awesome, in 20 years I can buy it for 150K. Can’t afford it now…

As I watched the video the only thing that kept coming to mind is how it appears there is a race among converters to see who can cram the greatest complexity in a bus.
With technology changing at a pace that makes something obsolete the day after something is purchased is their anyone that believes there will be support for the complex features and devices 10 years from now? My entire opinion about that coach is epitomized by the toilet.

It seems that Emerald is one converter that is doing it right, or at least the closest to the sensible adoption of new technology in a fashion that makes sense to me.
Proven technology, applied sensibly, in a fashion that is accessible and maintainable, will result in a happy camper.
Reminds me of the initial days of the point matrix printers. Just because you could print a document in Old English Script did not mean you should print your document in Old English Script.

All the converters are facing a bigger challenge. They all share a common sales detriment, the lack of insurance for new coaches. There are only one or two companies that will quote a new coach today and they are very excessive in premium prices. All the converters I have talked to admit it is killing sales, but they have not gotten together, yet, to figure out an answer.

Mikee, step back a little before responding………..
Tell me the cost of insurance as a percentage of lost value due to depreciation per year for the first three years or so. Compared to depreciation, insurance represents a small cost of ownership. The cost of fuel becomes a rounding error.
Or look at it another way……..What percentage of the purchase price of a new coach does an insurance premium equal?
I’m not defending insurance companies because they are not my favorite people right now, but my guess is the coaches have gotten so complex and parts prices are so extraordinarily high priced it is easy to imagine how the premium costs have gotten where they are.

A prospective buyer looking at a new completed Prevost should really step back before even considering a “one off” Prevost conversion.

A reliable Foretravel source has said ‘no more’. They built two.

And that building was a big boo boo, shouldn’t have happened, can’t comment more.

Jon,
While what you say should be considered, however some can depreciate the coach or have other justifications. My point on insurance is this:
Current coach is x per 100k of insurance
New coach quote is 4x per 100k
This does not balance or make mathematical sense to me, other than only 1 or 2 are even willing to quote a rate.
Several now writing policies will not make any change to the policy or write a new one. So, it is killing new coach sales as the historical ins cost has gone up 4 times if someone is even willing to write it.
