  • For you mid-2000’s Marathon owners………

Posted by Marshall on January 24, 2021 at 8:32 pm

I was recently touring a 2008 Marathon H3-45 and noticed a different dash controller than I was used to. Can anyone tell me who makes them? The unit has 4 direction control switches surrounding a toggle switch in the middle. Thanks.

It controls the side & rear cameras.

My Bendix TPMS looks exactly like the round Ametek gauge, the other could be rear camera.

Looking at the top control, mine is for the rear camera with the ability to aim the view Down on the toad or Up for farther back down the road. I also have the rear camera linked to the dash iPad so you need to make sure the top button is On.

As far as I know, my side cameras are set in one position only and come on as you hit the directional signal.

Does anyone know the brand of the camera and controller?

    Jim,

Thanks for your input. I don’t understand your comment about the top button on the rear camera controller and displaying the backup camera on an iPad. How do you do that? I see that its labeled automenu?

Also, Is there a switch in your coach (on your dash) to turn on the chassis battery charger? I just picked-up a 2007 H3-45 (Marathon) and my rear 120 power outlet isn’t live, thus my Guest charger isn’t charging. I have found the breaker for that outlet, but it is controlled by a 12 volt control signal (and switch) somewhere. The charger works….I plugged it into a live extension cord and it works fine. I’m coming from a Royale Coach XLII, so quite a bit of learning curve from both the Marathon systems and the H3-45.

Last topic. There is a switch on the dash (left side) and an indicator light on the cluster with a symbol I have not seen. it looks something like __/ __. Can you tell me what this is? I’m told it’s a “chassis disconnect” to disconnect the chassis batteries from any load. Is this correct?

This is “off topic,” but I may be able to help regarding your “dead” outlet that is supposed to power your Guest charger.

I have a 2004 Marathon H. The previous owner installed a Guest charger for the chassis batteries. Recently, the charger “died.” I verified power to the outlet.

The coach was at Marathon East, so I asked them to replace the charger. I vaguely recall that the service adviser told me about the option of installing an electronic device/system that automatically “killed” power to the charger when the engine was started. It was said to extend the life of the charger. The operation of the proposed system sounded complicated, and for the amount Marathon wanted to install the system, I could blow up a few chargers. Therefore, I declined.

I do recall that the service adviser said that I would be required to switch the device on each time I started the coach. I think he said that newer Marathons were equipped with the system. Maybe you have to find a switch to activate power to the outlet?

Colt, just turn off the block heater circuit breaker, you’ve probably already figured that out.

Well….After letting the techs look at it for a day, I figured out the issue with no power to my Guest chassis charger……The engine bay outlet is actually a GFI outlet, and had tripped. A simple reset and I’m in business.

    Thanks for those who replied……

TNJET, I have an 08 Marathon. As others said, that panel controls the back up camera. My camera died last year. The company that makes the camera and switch isn’t in business anymore according to Marathon. We really searched to find a replacement that would work and it took a couple of iterations to get a solution. Marathon in Grand Prairie has the solution if your camera dies. They have put it in several buses since mine as a replacement. I have had the same issue on the GFI circuit for the trickle charger. I try to check every few days to make sure it hasn’t tripped. So far it has tripped twice in the 2 years that I have owned the bus.
