  • Flying J Card

I thought I might post a heads up for those using Pilot/Flying J’s “Frequent Fueler Advantage RV” card. This is the card I have been using since the merger for the discount when I fuel there and for the $5 off the $10 dump fee.

I pulled in the Flying J in Joplin, Missouri Saturday (Jan. 11th) to empty my holding tanks. I was not fueling so my normal procedure is to prepare the hose while my wife goes inside to pay the $5 fee and get the code. She text me to let me know the line was very long and came out after a while and said the lady told her the Frequent Fueler Advantage RV was no longer good and was being discontinued. They required the “Pilot/Flying J/Good Sam RV Plus” card.

I went in the bus and found the proper card and sent her back to wait in line. No go again. She said that card was acceptable but it was now $7.50. Now it is possible that the discount price went up but the brand new sign hanging up outside disagreed.

    $10 Waste Dump Fee

    $5 with Pilot/Flying J/Good Sam RV Plus

$7.50 with Good Sam Swipe and Save Card

After I emptied the tanks (It was propped open the whole time but I was paying the fee because I am honest.) I went inside myself and waited in line again. I happened to get the same lady my wife had dealt with and she was not happy we were still there taking up space in line and breathing their free air. I told her the sign said $5 and she said I had misread the sign. I tried to show her the picture of the sign on my phone and she refused to look at it. I offered to bring the sign in for her to see and she looked at me like I had two heads.

I kept my friendliest smile front and center because people like this do not know what to do with somebody who insists they are right without yelling and smiles all the time.

She called the manager who swiped my Pilot/Flying J/Good Sam RV Plus and said, “$7.50? That’s not right. It is supposed to be $5.” He looked at the picture on my phone and confirmed it was a new sign demonstrating a new change taking place 1/1/2014. He showed me the notice for the cashiers and it read the same as the sign in the picture above. Evidently it was programmed into the computer to read the wrong price. He overrode the computer and charged me the correct amount of $5.

I did not confirm with him what the lady cashier told my wife about the Frequent Fueler Advantage RV being discontinued. The manager was super nice and sorry for my trouble.

you gotta love, computers are always correct, even if the store advertising and postings say otherwise. To bad we can’t get more people to read and care about there actions with customers, then interactions between humans might be more pleasant. I have decided to take your exact tact and it is always more fun than the alternative. Slow Down, Smile, Laugh Later.

it is nice in Tampa at the show, got to see lots of coaches in one area, and meet some great folks.

Glad I didn’t decide to take in a movie this afternoon, shooting at movie.
