  • First Prevost looking for info

Posted by Ron on March 21, 2021 at 9:34 pm

I am new to the Prevost world ( but not new to motor home and RV lifestyle) and looking for my first coach. Does anyone have any info about the Marathon coach #0737 that is on their website? Thanks

Not familiar with that coach, bunk coach’s are few and far between, so I wouldn’t wait too long. I had 732 an H and it was a great bus. Since this is an XLII, your due diligence should include a delam check by Prevost.

Thanks for you reply. The de lam issue was one of the first things I asked about and was told “it’s not an issue at this time”. Having read as much as I can find about it, can you tell me how Prevost actually checks for this? Is it just a subjective thing by tapping and listening or is there a procedure where actually pull on the panels or something?

A delamination test requires the chassis to be pressurized and then a soapy solution sprayed at the perimeter of panels. Seriously loose panels can be detected by tapping them and listening for the tell tale signs of loose panels.

Any one that buys an XLII without confirmation the coach has been repaired or recent proof it has been tested and is OK is at great risk for a serious repair cost.

Thank you. That is what I have been missing in my research. I just got some more info on the coach in question and it looks like my search continues. Thanks again

737 at one point lived in Aspen. Back in the day, we saw it at Mira Loma and looked at it with a friend who had interest The advice given to the friend was right floorplan, wrong bus

Coloradobus, thank you for your reply. From what I have learned so for I believe that the advice you gave then is still good today. I have spoken to the sales person and told him I’m passing on this one. Thanks again.

I every case of an XLII a purchase should have three things considered as part of the purchase.

It should have been repaired, preferably the repair done only by Prevost and has the vertical seam covering strips visible.

If it has not had the repair stated above, it needs to have a recent certification by Prevost that there is no needed delamination.

And finally, if the two above are not in evidence the purchase price needs to be about $40,000 to $50,000 below the market price to compensate for a potential skin delamination repair.

When looking at a XL11 should all 10 panels be repaired ? I heard that there are 5 per side and at any time one could open as they were all glued the same ? Is this true ?
