first “big” trip done
now that we are back in the oppresive south, i can post up that we are very happy with how our older coach treated us (didnt want to chance saying anything before we got back and ended up broken down on the side of the road). it was great traveling in such an amazing vehicle!
we logged just over 5000 miles in a month. one small issue that required mechanic, the other issue i was able to “deal” with on my own till i can get the part replaced.
we had a great trip from the ATL, up through TN, KY, IL, MO, IA, SD,WY, MT,ID, WA and then back through ID,MT, UT, CO, NM, TX, OK,AK,TN,MS,AL and back into the ATL.
was nice to be home and jumped out of the coach and onto the lawn mower to clean up what the kid i had covering for me didnt do, while i was gone. spent a good six or so hours on the yard getting it looking back to normal for an open house this morning. missing the west with its dry hot temps. im done trying to tell myself that over 95, humidity doesnt matter. ill take a nice dry 95 day over an 85% humidity hot day.

Impressive trip. Hope your time in OK was fun. You should have stayed up north until football season starts.

Great trip Charles. Same here, when we got back after being out west, the ole humidity was a reminder of summer in the south. You were almost chasing us out west, we managed to stay ahead of you..

Chris, we didn’t actually “stop” in Oklahoma, just passed through. We did stay there last summer at the Sheraton in OKC. Great place and amazingly very dog friendly for a nice hotel. While we were there, they had a group that come together every year and do a fund raiser to fund scholarships for local kids to go to collage for Ag in state. Seems to bring some big money in and bring some fun people out. As we were pulling out at 9AM, we had to politely turn down some beers in the parking lot from a member and his son who were still going strong from the night before…
We do love that OKC has a very nice look as you drive through on I40. If St. Louis could only get with the program, maybe people wouldn’t think it was a slum, since that’s all they see when passing through.
Tom, ye, we seemed to be one step behind you pretty much the entire trip. Never really could make up the time to catch up with you in Polsen or at Peter’s place. Maybe next year. We plan to be out west for a good amount longer next year.
I almost got the readout on the DDEC to read 7 MPG. Not bad since when we picked it up in December, it was at 6.5. Started out at 6.85 on this trip, went down to 6.79 while in the mountains and got it up to 6.95 as we pulled into town. We filled up in New Mexico just passed Albuquerque and still had 1/4 tank left when we got into Jasper AL. Keeping it at 65mph really does make a difference.
