Fires
Hello,
How many of you have had a coach catch on fire??? I had a Model 10 Eagle catch on fire in the electrical bay for the interior in a hotel parking lot in Dallas TX back in the 90’s. I am looking for some kind of Main Engine,Generator and maybe Refrigerator and Interior Electrical Bay fire suppression system that is automatic!!!! I keep fire extinguishers around me at all times. I wound up in the hospital after that with scorched lungs as I put the fire out myself with a fire hose I found on the loading dock of the Hotel we were about to load in to. I also had a carb. on a MotorHome I was helping a friend work on Back Fire and catch my Face and Beard and Both Arms on fire with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on them.Spent some time in Vanderbilts Burn Unit over that one and quite a while recovering!!! The 2 things as a driver I am scared of are fire and wind!!!! If fire gets on you its going to leave a mark and hurt getting it off and with wind you cant see it and what its doing and sometimes by the time you feel it,It’s to LATE!!! Tell me about your bus fires!!!!

I had a fire in the engine compartment of an 87 with OTR that I attribute to the people who replaced my OTR AC compressor and left off the unloading valves. $82,000 worth of repairs. Like Robert my nephew and I put the fire out ourselves.
A number of fires have been reported over the years, but from what I have seen there is no pattern or single cause we can point our fingers at.

IMO the XLL can be saved when they have engine fires the H series one has to be fast when the fiberglass siding starts to burn it is almost impossiable to stop I have watched a fire dept just let a H series burn it self out
While I am a lover of the H fires do concern me with H model I have seen to many burn to the ground started by a small fire

There must be something out there. Race cars use automatic discharge fire extingquishers in the truck where the fuel cell is and the engine compartment. I think they have Halon in the bottles.

Our boats always had Halon systems installed.. I think there’s something more sophisticated out there now !!
