  • Fire Extinguisher ??

Posted by Dave on December 8, 2025 at 4:46 pm

What is the best extinguisher to carry in my coach?? I heard that if a dry power one is used that all electrical components will be ruined from the corrosive power. There used to be a foam extinguisher that worked well but it was taken off the market. What is everybody using now??

    Thanks

I have a couple from Home Depot, but honestly rather than worrying about what the extent of the fire extinguisher damage, it might be better to focus on putting the fire out quick, as the longer the fire goes on far greater damage will occur.

Take a look at the Element fire extinguishers. They operate like a road flare and are good for Class A, B, C, and K fires. I have the traditional fire extinguishers on my Dawg Haus (boat) and in the Dog Kennel (Prevost) but I have also added at least one Element Fire extinguisher in each. They are non-corrosive and do not leave a film to clean up. The best part is that when started, they last much longer than a traditional fire extinguisher. They claim the E50 run time is 50 seconds which is equivalent to 5 – 5 pound bottles. To me, this run time is very important. I came across a vehicle several years ago that had a small engine fire that was getting bigger quickly. It took all of 2 extinguishers to put out that fire.

Thank you Brant, I checked them out and going to order 3 for the coach. For the engine, genny and inside. They are exactly what I was looking for…..
