  • Fire Alarm goes off intermittently Please help

Posted by Richard on July 10, 2016 at 10:42 am

I’m parked in a RV park in Michigan and the coach fire alarm goes off intermittently. I can cancel by pressing the coach’s key FOB. I have no idea what is causing it to go off. How can you determine what is setting it off. I’m a new coach owner and this is a 2001 Featherlight Vantare double slide H3-45. Any help would be appreciated.Does anyone know of a Prevost repair facility near Grand Rapids Michigan?

Do you mean smoke detector? I know if the batteries are low they will beep intermittently. Have you replaced the batteries? Hope this helps

no it’s definitely the engine fire alarm…I disconnected 3 plugs in the back drivers side switch relay compartment as instructed by Prevost Support. I had trouble with this alarm last fall and I guess the way Prevost New Jersey tried to fix it with wire ties didn’t last very long yet they charged me $350 for the repair.

Its pretty bad when Prevost doesn’t repair things correctly….Anybody know a good place?

The fire alarm just went off again. So I unplugged the large plug on the left….does anyone know if the 3 on the right should be unplugged or plugged to stop the alarm?

Panterra is in Holland, MI, maybe they could offer a suggestion tomorrow.

I would think ther would be a way to kill the power to the alarm. Prevost guarantee’s their work for a year, so hold their feet to the fire.

Thank you I will try them tommorrow….

I found out that the unit is an Megatech Electro Inc (Quebec, CA) Overheat sensor device that monitors 3 locations on the coach for over heating. Megatech Electro Inc. was bought by SMTnet so I don’t know if they are still in business.

I washed the engine compartment on one of my Liberty’s & wet the sensor and the alarm came on ,I tripped the breaker in the driver side electrical box to turn it off, after a day it dryed out and it was ok.
